Eighty-five Kings Mountain High School 9-12 agricultural students learned about farm safety from the experts Thursday as the Cleveland County Farm Bureau hosted Farm Safety Day. Tractor safety, fire safety, first aid skills, and electrical safety were the topics of demonstrations as the students walked through the various stations of interest in and outside the Agriculture Building. > Wayne Yarbro and Thad Allen talked about how to operate a tractor safely, while Rutherford Electric Corporation representa- tives Jonathan W. Pitman and Gordon Mc- Daniel stressed the importance of electrical safety with their, timely demonstrations. EMT Ronald Hawkins encouraged students to be “sun safe” and avoid possible skin can- cer. He emphasized head protection with hats, and said that hearing loss is preventa- ble by protecting your ears during loud noise, and your eyes by wearing eyeglasses, among other safety and health tips.
