a i Al Tate KINGS MOUNTAIN - Alfred “Al” Tate, 77, of Kings Mountain, died Fri- day, April 29, 2011 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gasto- nia. He was born in Cleveland County to the late Henry Grady Tate, Sr. and Nettie Long Tate. He was also pre- ceded in death by his brother, Henry Grady Tate Jr. He was a self-employed ac- ‘ countant for 54 years. Surviving are his wife of 51 years Mary Helen Logan: Tate of Kings Mountain; son, Alan Kyle Tate and wife, Frankie Wood Tate of Siler City; daughter, Eliza- beth Anne Tate of Kings Mountain; brother, Vernon Tate and wife, Faye, of Char- lotte; sister-in-law, Jennie Sue Tate of Lutz, FL; two grandchildren, Lindsay Tate and Austin Tate. He loved his nieces and nephews. The funeral service was _conducted Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at Ollie Harris Me- morial Chapel, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Hawks, 57, for- mer resident of Blacksburg, SC, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice House in Asheville. He was a US Marine Corps veteran. Driver Safety Class The Patrick Senior Center will host a one day AARP Driver Safety Class Friday. May 13 from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. followed by lunch from 11:30-12:30 and class from 12 :30-2 p.m. This refresher class is especially designed for motorists age 50 and older and is open to AARP members and non members.
