Johnny Wayne Conner KINGS MOUNTAIN - Johnny Wayne Conner, 78, 102 Battleground Road, died Sept 25, 2011, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. He was born June 6, 1933, in Gaston County to the | -astie James Ervin Conner : a. nid Ethel Cabe Conner and was also. preceded in death by his sister, Betty Payne and brother, Clyde Ervin Conner. * A carpenter, he served in the United States Navy. The ex- hibit, which features artifacts and photographs from the First World War, will run until Saturday, Nov. 12. “Honor Our Veterans: Remembering WWI” offers visitors a chance to explore how the war affected Ameri- can life both abroad and at home. The majority of the artifacts in the exhibit are from the Museum’s perma- nent collection, with a few items on loan from local res- idents. Photographs and ad- ditional information have been provided courtesy of the Charlotte Mecklenberg Library, the Upcountry His- tory Museum in Greenville, SC, and the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg. Town Hall meeting in Shelby A town hall meeting about a new charter school proposal will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Cleveland County Administration Building in Shelby. The public is invited. BC Car show Oct. 8 First Baptist Church of Bessemer City, 107 E. Washing- ton Ave., will have its first car show, featuring live music from Gospel bands, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 8. All proceeds will benefit the church’s youth and music departments. Dementia Support meeting Oct. 18 Christie Ray of Home Instead will present a program ti- tled “What do they see? Looking Through the Eyes of De- mentia” at the next family caregiver meeting at Life Enrcihment Center Adult Day Care in Shelby, Tuesday, Oct. 18. Ray will explain how the world looks to someone with dementia symptoms. The caregiver meeting, which meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m., is open to anyone and is free of charge. The center is located at 110 Life Enrichment Blvd. in Shelby. Fall Festival set for Oct. 19 Plans are underway by the Kings Mountain Woman’s Club for the annual Fall Festival to be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Woman’s Club, 109 E. The luncheon will be held at 238 Cherokee Street, from noon until 2 p.m. Dr. Forrest Thompson, chief medical on- cologist at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, will be the guest speaker, answering questions and using a PowerPoint presentation to relay information regarding breast cancer.
