Hl iE ® Page 4C The Kings Mountain Herald Kings Mountain’s pep band and fans cheer for the Mountaineers in Friday's playoff game at Crest. High fives to the Mountaineers Cornhole Tourney set for Nov. 20 GARY STEWART Sports Editor Thinking back on the 2011 football season and of- fering a big Mountaineer high five to the following (and, apologizing in advance to anyone I leave out): Buy life insurance and save on your home and car. hen you buy life insurance from us through Auto-Owners Insurance, you'll receive special discounts on your home, mobile home money. As an independent Auto-Owners agent, we take great interest in you — as well as your home and car. We ar¢ specialists in insuring people — and the things they own. Auto-Owners Insurance Warlick and Hamrick Insurance 704.739.3611 -The coaching staff and players for another exciting season. -The cheerleaders for keeping the fans fired up. -The student cheering section, which was loud and .always positive. I particu- larly like it when they call out a player’s name when he made a big play. I hope to see that section grow bigger and hjgger in the future. -The marching and pep bands. Sometimes halftime goes by too quickly and we don’t get to enjoy as much music as we’d like. But the pep band plays just about the whole time at away games, and we really appreciate it! “ -All the folks that work the concession stand, gates, parking lots, press box, etc. It seems like the concession stand workers get cheated out of seeing some good football. Maybe in the future we can have a concession stand that either has a big screen TV in it, or is posi- tioned where the workers can see the action when they’re not serving up the goodies. -Churches, who feed the teams before every game. And the tail- gaters up on the hill that al- ways ask me if I'd like Live Music! and others, - something to eat. -The Kings Mountain Rescue Squad, which has an ambulance and personnel at every home game just in case someone has to be taken to the hospital. -All the folks that volun- teer their time to work the sidelines, such as trainers, doctors, ball boys, managers, etc. -Charlie Smith, who takes thousands of pictures a year (heck, maybe even thousands a game!) to share with the players, coaches and many other folks close and far away. -And last, but certainly one of the most important, Larry McDaniel, who leads prayer from the stands be- fore every game. The gov- ernment may think it can take prayer out of the schools, but because of Larry we’re not going to allow that to happen in Kings Mountain.
