Mary Elizabeth Frye SHELBY - Mary Eliza- beth Frye, 64, of Hilltop Drive, died Nov. 15,2011 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. She retired after 31 years as executive secretary to the Cleveland County Schools superintendent. The funeral service was conducted Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. James E. Greene GROVER - James Ed- ward Greene, 64, of 101 Amanda Lane, died Satur- day, Nov. 19, 2011 at his home. Born in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Charlie Weldon and Girleen Hullender Greene. He was a member of Oak Grove { Baptist Church and a beloved father, grandfa- ther and brother. Surviving are his daugh- ter, April G. Williams and husband, Junior, of Kings Mountain, brother, Elvin Greene of Kings Mountain; sister, Dot- tie Greene Harmon of Kings Mountain and four grand- children. Thelma Hicks KINGS MOUNTAIN - Thelma Wills Hicks, 97, res- ident of Summit Place, died Nov. 16, 2011 at Kings Moun- County, NC. daughter of the late James and Mae Stroud Wills. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded. in death by a son, Steve R. Hicks, a daughter, Lib Green, a grandson, Lonnie Burgess, III, six brothers and one sister. : Retired from the textile industry, she worked 20-plus years at the Kings Mountain Aging Program at the ‘Depot’ Senior Center and was a member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a lov- ing mother and grannie. Surviving are her sons, - Lonnie “Dickie” Burgess of Kings Mountain and Pete Burgess and wife, Teresa, of Blacksburg, SC; daughters, Doris Chamblee and hus- band, Fred, of Shallotte, NC and Margie Lawrence of King, NC; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchil- dren and numerous nieces and nephews. Tex Houston Sipes KINGS MOUNTAIN - Tex Houston Sipes, 72, resi- dent of Kings Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 15, 2011 at his home. He was born on May 28, 1939 in Cleveland County, son of the late Jacob Sylva- nius and Ola Mae Dalton Sipes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Roark. Formerly a truck driver and later a security guard at FMC and Martin Marietta, he was a member of David Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, a member of NRA and supporter of St. Libra Indian School in Mon- tana. He loved target practice with his pistols and served in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa who will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Carolyn.
