Page 2A sur ® OBITUARIE The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, December 7, 2011 CHARLES GOFORTH SHELBY - Charles Arnold Goforth, 83, of Oak Grove Rd., died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at Cleveland Re- gional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County on Oct. 14, 1928, he IERg| was the son of the late John Dixon a nid Bessie Suzanne Ware Go- forth. A loving and dedicated member of Putnam Memorial Baptist Church; he was a third de- gree Mason of Shelby Ma- sonic Lodge 744 and an avid gardener. He loved to hunt and fish and was a loving and devoted father, grandfa- ther and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Go- forth and Woody Ware; three sisters, Kathleen Scism, Louise Ledford and Mar- garet Hamrick; a grand- daughter, Tabitha Whitaker and great-grandson, Madi- son Whitaker. Born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Frank C.> and Pearl Lovelace Ware, she was the 8 wife of 65 8 years to the late Menzell N. Phifer. She was also pre- ceded in death by son-in- law, Gene Kaylor, sister-in-law, Peggy Ware, brothers, Mike Ware and Walter Ware, sister Virginia * Stone and brother-in-law, W. F. Stone. Retired after 45 years from First Union National Bank, she was a member of Boyce Memorial ARP "Church where she was active in church and Women’s Min- istries. She was a member of the Open Gate Garden Club and enjoyed making porce- Jain dolls for friends and family. She loved to cook and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mark But- ler charged a 17-year-old male with careless and reck- less driving after he lost con- trol of a 1992 Nissan in the parking lot of Kings Moun- tain Intermediate School and struck two pine trees. NOV. 28: Officer Bryan McGinnis said that a 2001 Chevy operated by Lonnie Joe Hice, 1816 Martin Rd.,rear-ended a 1995 Jeep - operated by Chester Gene Davis of Gastonia. Property damages were minor. NOV. 29: Ptl. H. W. Car- penter said that Richard Keith Moore, 500 Downing Dr., operating a 2001 Chevy, was attempting to cross the West bound lanes of US 74 Business from N. Roxford Road to make a left turn into the East bound lanes of US 74 business, Moore told the officer that he looked East to insure there was no West bound traffic approaching and then proceeded. The Moore car struck a bicycle operated by Jeffrey Scott Morton, 813 Landing St., which was illegally traveling East in the West bound lanes of US 74 Business. Moore transported Morton ‘to the Kings Mountain Hospital where he was treated and re- leased. DEC. 1: PtLK. A. Wajda said that Lewis Ricky Detter, 205 Cranford Dr., operating a 1998 Dodge, failed to yield right of way and struck a 2003 dodge operated by Mac Steven Love, Bessemer City. Cleveland County EMS and Kings Mountain Rescue Squad transported injured to Kings Mountain Hospital. DEC»: Ptl. J. L. Dee said that Ashley Michelle Irvin, of Grover, operating a 2004 Ford, backed into a 2006 Honda operated by Charity McGinnis, 225 N. City St. The accident hap- pened in the parking lot of Shergill Exxon and resulted in minor damage. Raccoon tests positive for rabies Cleveland County Health Department reported that a raccoon found on property at 104 Wing Haven Drive in Shelby tested positive for ra- bies Nov. 18, the fifth rabies case in the county this year. Residents need to make sure their animals are under their direct control. Animals that are allowed to run loose are at risk of coming into contact with a rabid animal.
