Investigation continues in beating, assault case Kings Mountain Police are continuing their investiga- ‘tion into the beating of a man and assaulting of a woman at ‘a Second Street residence early Sunday. KMPD Det. Cpl. K. L. Hamrick said a 15-year-old girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend were arrested for allegedly “assaulting with intent to kill” the girl’s mother and her “ boyfriend. KMPD officers responded to 915 Second Street at 5:10 ‘a.m. Sunday to find that two people, a male and female, both white, had been assaulted with a metal object, the male al- legedly receiving blows to the head considered life-threaten- ing. Both injured people were transported by emergency medical personnel to Kings Mountain Hospital where the woman was treated for minor injuries and released and the man was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where his condition is stable. According to an incident report filed by KMPD Ptl. K. A. - Wajda the teen’s boyfriend was spotted at 7:40 a.m. Sunday morning walking across King Street to a parking lot and was arrested by police without incident. Edward Eugene Ruff Jr., 19, white male, who had listed an address in the 1700 block of Shelby Road, was jailed under $500,000 secured bond on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious in- _ jury, conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon and injury to per- sonal property. His first court appearance was Monday in Cleveland County District Court at Shelby.
