Parker Gymnasium. The win was the third in Big South 3A play for the Mountaineers, and their fifth overall under interim coach Grayson Pierce. : The Chargers’ Redd Hush missed a shot at the buzzer to.ensure the victory. The Mountaineers couldn’t get their game in gear early as Crest jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter and 30-18 half- time lead. They led by as many as 14 points before the Mountaineers rallied in the second half, Kings Mountain outscored Crest 17- 8 in the third quarter to cut the margin to 38-35, and then went ahead late in the game before the Chargers’ P.J. Brooks knotted the game at 50-all to force the overtinie. The Mountaineers placed three play- ers in double figures with Treyvon Adams leading the way with 19 points. Hines added 16 and Edward Blackburn 12. Hines dished out five assists. Black- burn pulled down 15 rebounds and James Tillman grabbed 12. The Mountaineers completed their regular season Friday night at first place Forestview and lost to the Jaguars 65- 49. Forestview had the upper hand from the opening tip. The Jaguars led by 12- 2 at the end of the first period and 30-15 at halftime. They led 50-27 going into the fourth period. The Mountaineers ended up with a 3-9 conference and 5- 17 overall record under interim coach Grayson Pierce. They defeated North Gaston, South Point and Crest in the BSC and Burns in two non-conference games. Ashbrook dominated the game from the outset. The Green Wave hit 10 3-pointers, led by Antonio Blalock with three Sophomore Solomon Hawkins led the Mountaineers with seven points.
