Randolph “Randy” Alexander, 86, went to be with the Lord in his heavenly home on May 19, 2012 at Hospice at Wendover. Born Nov. 20, 1925 to the late William and Beatrice Alexander in Mooresboro, he was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served on i the USS Bel- lowood = during seven major {battles | and re- ceived a Purple heart. - He owned East King Exxon in Kings Mountain and later owned and oper- ated Randy’s Builders. In 1974 he started and char- tered the Holiness Christian Mission, which he and his wife pastored for 38 yeas. Randolph, loved his church, family, friends and loved to fish. The family would like to thank Hospice of Cleveland County, the staff of Wendover, Dr. An- derson and staff and the church family and friends for their love, prayers and sup- port. ; He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, three brothers, and one great-great granddaughter. Surviving are his wife of 65 years and 10 months, Mary Helen Allman Alexan- der, three children, Gail Stamey and husband, Danny, of Kings Mountain; David Alexander and wife, Cindi of Polkville; © Rev. Darrell Alexander and wife, Rita of Kings Mountain; one sister, Annie Love of Blacksburg, SC, six grandchildren, 22 great-grandchilden and 24 great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 4 p.m. at Holiness Christian Mission by Rev. Danny Stamey and Rev. Sherry Owens and bur- ial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. William Demauth Blanton, 80, husband of Beatrice Adams Blanton of Union, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at his home. Rev. Blanton was born in’ Kings Mountain June 23, 1931, a son of the late J. Wiley and Quilla Bell Blan- ton. He was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Mars Hill College, Wake Forest College and the Southeastern Baptist Theo- logical Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He was ordained by the First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain. He served as pastor of churches in Maryland, Massachusetts . and Virginia. On July 1, 1968, by spe- cial selection and invitation by the staff, Rev. Blanton be- came an intern and subse- quently a resident in the School of Pastoral Care, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, NC Baptist Hos- pital in Winston-Salem, where he received special training in Clinical Pastoral Education and Pastoral Counseling. On July 1, 1970, he became Staff Chaplain and Pastoral Counselor at the Appalachian Regional Hos- pitals in Beckley, West Vir- ginia and South Williamson, Kentucky. On Feb. 1, 1974, he came to Union to serve as Director and Pastoral Coun- selor at the Union Mental Health Clinic, a position from which he retired on June 30, 1995. Rev. Blanton was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greenville, SC. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Paul D. Blanton and Dr. Mary Boggiano. of Hoover, AL; a daughter, Anna A. Blanton of Varnville, SC; two grand- children, Colin and Martha K. Blanton of Birmingham, AL; a brother and sister-in- law, Howard and Lois Blan- ton of Kings Mountain; a sister-in-law, Dixie Blanton, also of Kings Mountain and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Blanton, in 1993. At Rev. Blanton’s re- quest, he will be cremated.
