He was born in Cleveland County to the late O.M. “Shorty” Valentine and Gertrude Bratton Valentine. Mr. Valentine attended Boyce Memorial ARP Church and retired from Fiber Industries in Earl. He served in Korea and Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hull Valentine of Kings Mountain; son, Todd Hughes of Kings Mountain; brothers, Mearl Valentine of Kings Mountain and Gerald Valentine of Kings Mountain; and, two grandchildren, Caleb Hughes and Cai- lyn Hughes. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept.’ 1, 2012 at Boyce Memo- rial ARP Church. Interment followed at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Moun- tain. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg where he served as a Deacon. “Rudy” truly loved music. He was a member of the church choir, a member of The Master's Quar- tet and a member of The Messengers. He ‘ was a member of the Gaffney Indians Football Chain Crew for many years.
