75, resident of Kings Moun-
tain, NC died May 13,.2013
at Kings
Moun-

House.
She

Floyd D. McDaniel and Lol-
lie Wells McDaniel.
She was also preceded in
death by her daughter, Penny
Haynes and sister, Brenda
Caldwell.
Mrs. Blanton was a mem- -
ber of First Presbyterian
Church, Kings Mountain,
NC, and a homemaker. She
was a former foster parent.
She was a loving wife,
mother, and grandmother
who loved to paint and
cook.
Survivors include her
husband, Charles D. Blanton
of Kings Mountain; son, Tim
Haynes and wife, Lisa, of
Midlothian, VA; step-sons,
Whitney Blanton and wife,
Cathy, of Winter Park, FL,
fand David Blanton of Kings
Mountain; step-daughters,
Donna Blanton and husband,
John, of Tallahassee, FL, and
Liza Dellinger and husband,
Bryan, of Kings Mountain;
sister, Kay M. Beason and
husband, Ronnie of Kings
Mountain; brother-in-law,
Dewayne Caldwell of Kings
Mountain; 16 grandchildren
and three great-grandchil-
dren.
A memorial service will
be held at First Presbyterian
Church, Kings Mountain,
NC, Saturday, June 1,
at 12:00 noon with Dr. Don-
ald McSwain, officiating the
service.

MARSHALL, IL -
Charles William Isbell, 87,
of Marshall, Illinois passed
away peacefully in his home
Friday, May 17, 2013.
He was born: May 20,
1925 in Sullivan, IN, the
youngest son of Lucy Burke
and Wesley Isbell.
Charles joined the U.S.
ro i Marine
Bl Corps
{on De-
cember
27,1943
and
served
with the
8 first am-
phibian unit driven into bat-
tle in WWII. He saw action
in Saipan, the Marianas Is-
lands, Tinian and Iwo Jima,
where he was witness to the
first flag-raising on Mount
Suribachi. He was dis-
charged as a corporal in No-
vember 1945 and returned to
farming and construction
work around West Union.
Charles was pleased and
proud to participate in the
WW II Veterans Flight of
Honor to Washington, DC
with his oldest son, Ron in
May 2011.
Charles married Virginia
Fern Heleine on January 10,
1948 in Marshall and went
on to raise four children.
They enjoyed camping with
family and friends, playing
cards and dominoes, and
putting out his summer fruit
stand. He retired from Farm
Service Co in 1985. He was
a member of the West Union
Christian Church, the West
Union American Legion, and
the Marshall VEW.
Charles is survived by his
wife of 65 years, Fern; two
sons, John & Debbie Isbell
of Woodstock, IL and Chris
& Teresa Isbell of Lena, IL;
his daughter, Kim & Jim
Bass of Henderson, NV; his
daughter-in-law, Wendy Is-
bell of Kings Mountain;
seven grandchildren: Angela
Isbell, Trevor Isbell, Amy &
James Lombardo, Jason Is-
bell, Amanda & Heath
Gerkin, Melissa Isbell, and
Bryan Isbell; three step-
grandchildren, Erin Cum-
mins, Tracie Moore, and
Wayne Conner; great-grand-
children: Elijah, Emmit, and
Easton Gerkin; step-great-
grandchildren, Brette and Eli
Cummins, Bryton Moore,
and Jordyn Scott; two sis-
ters, Hazel Downey and
Beulah Harper; as well as
several nieces, nephews, and
church family.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; brothers
Dave, Ralph, and Don Isbell;
his sister Ruth Hayek; and
his son Ron Isbell (former
owner/publisher of the
Kings Mountain Herald,
Banner News, and Cher-
ryville Eagle).
Funeral services will be
held at 10:30 a.m. on
Wednesday, May 22 at the
West ~~ Union - Christian
Church, with Pastor Ken
Gillaspy officiating. Burial
will be in the Harrison
Cemetery, Rural West
Union, with military rites
being conducted by the Mar-
shall V.E.W. Visitation will
be held from 4 -7 p.m. Tues-
day, May 21 at the church.
Memorials may be made
to the West Union Christian
Church or to the donor’s
choice.

Lollie Wells McDaniel, 95, a
resident of 169 Range Road,
Kings Mountain, died Tues-
day, May 7, 2013 at her
home.
She was born in Cleve-
land
daughter
of the

and Sal-

Blalock Wells. In addition to
her parents, she was also
preceded in death by her
husband of 47 years, the late
Floyd O. McDaniel, two
daughters, Brenda Caldwell,
and Pat Blanton, a brother,
Jeff Wells and sisters Ruth
Randle, Nell McSwain,
Claudie Timms and Syble
Sanders.
She was a homemaker, a
member of Bethlehem Bap-
tist Church in Kings Moun-
tain, where she was the
oldest member, a hard
worker, loved gardening and
walking. She was a loving
wife, mother and grand-
mother.

husband Ronnie, and son-in-
law Charles Blanton, all of
Kings Mountain; five grand-
children: Tim Haynes and
wife, Lisa, Midlothian, Va.,

Michael Beason and wife

Kelly Washburn and hus-

tain; 13 great-grandchildren

The graveside service
was conducted Friday, May
10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Bethle-
‘hem Baptist Church Ceme-
tery. Dr. Steve Taylor and Dr.
Donald McSwain officiated.
The family received
friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Friday, May 10, 2013 in the
Christian Activities Center at
Bethlehem Baptist Church
prior to the graveside serv-
ice. Interment was in Bethle-
hem Baptist Church
Cemetery.

ing time with his family. His

Camila Adeline Dyson
Rogers, 90, went home to be
with the Lord on Friday, May
17, 2013 at her residence.
She was born April 14,
1923 to the late Dewey Otto
and Martha Emma Smith
Dyson.
She was
retired
from
Carolina
Glove
{where
| she had
worked
for over 25 years. Camila
was a member of Three Forks
Baptist Church and was a
Sunday School teacher for
over 40 years. She loved to
help out with the church’s
VBS, Discipleship Training
and being a youth leader. She
also enjoyed gardening, quilt-
ing, cooking and especially
loved her children, grandchil-
dren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents,
she is preceded in death by
her husband of 49 years,
Howard Rogers; infant son,
Rollins Dean Rogers; broth-.
ers, Flake, Dewey, Owen,
Denny and Redge Dyson; sis-
ters, Omelia Bowman,
Wilma Martin and Betty
Keever; and great grand-
daughters, Kayla Newton and
Dallas Miller.
