Wyneisha is the daughter of Tracy Bell, and plans to major in radiology at East Car- olina University. Phillip, the son of George and Michelle Quinn, plans to study biomedical en- gineering at UNC Chapel Hill, and work in prosthetic development. Rotary Speaker Rotarian Eric Scholler had as his guest June 6 his father, Kurt, who highlighted his experi- ences with Sister Cities, helping Gastonia connect with Gotha, a similar textile area in his na- tive East Germany. He is GEO of American Truetzschler Corporation. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 Ten college students from First Baptist Church took a mission trip to Loudon, Tennessee last week. First Baptist college students do mission work in Tennessee Ten college students from First Baptist Church joined Jeff Johnson, Minister of Students, for a mission trip last week in Loudon, Ten- nessee. Under the leadership of the Loudon County Habitat for Humanity, the group worked on a home being built in honor of Jeff’s father, Bill Johnson, who passed away in 2010. “He would be honored and very proud of . our efforts,” Jeff said of his dad, who served in various service and leadership roles _ - in Habitat for Humanity for the last 25 years of his life. The group worked from Tuesday to Friday primarily on the roof and porch sec- tions of the home. Contestant meeting planned for Miss Gastonia pageants The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association will host an orientation for young women interested in partici- pating in this year’s Miss Gastonia Scholarship Pag- cant and Miss Gastonia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. The orientation is scheduled for Thursday, June 13 from 6:30 — 8:00 p.m. at the Gas- ton County Public Library, 1555 East Garrison Blvd., Gastonia. Potential contest- ants and their parents are en- couraged to attend the meet- ing to learn more about the pageant program and entry requirements. Miss Gastonia/Miss Gas- ton County is for young women ages 17-24 who live, attend school full-time, or work full-time in one of the following counties: Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln, Meck- lenburg, Union, Catawba, Caldwell, Burke, Ruther- ford, or Polk. Outstanding Teen is for girls ages 13-16 who are N.C. residents. Teen con- testants do not have to live in a particular county. Other el- igibility rules apply. The pageants will be held Sunday afternoon, August 11 at Gaston College. CCC to hold open house and orientation Cleveland Community College will hold Open House and New Student Ori entation on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Anyone interested in attending CCC for the fall 2013 semester should plan to attend these events. New Student Orientation will be held from 9 AM - 12 PM or 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM. Open House will be held from 12 PM - 1:30 PM. Current students, students, advisors, and staff will be on hand to talk about the many programs and serv- ices available at CCC.
