Linda Moore Dixon, age 71,
a resident'of 407 Phifer Rd., Nh thart
passed away Sunday, July 7,
2013 at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center.”
She was born in Cleve-
land Co., NC, daughter of
the late John Frank and
Rachel Roberts Moore and
also preceded in-death by
step-mother, Margaret Short
Moore.
She graduated from Beth-
ware High School; the: Uni-
versity
of North
Carolina

her 6th year degree at Ap-
plachian State University.
Mrs. Dixon taught school in
Kings Mountain, Gaston and
Lincoln County, completing
her career as assistant princi-
pal at Northbrook Elemen-
tary School in Vale, NC.
She was an active mem-
ber of First Baptist Church in
Kings Mountain serving on
numerous committees and
was a Sunday School
Teacher for many years. She
was a member of the Kings
Mountain Woman’s Club,
serving'as president several
terms and heading up many
of its projects. She also was
the District 3 Woman’s
Clubs president as well as
chairman of numerous State
Committees.. Linda was ‘a,
volunteer and served on the
- Board of Directors i for; the:
Kings :Meuntain, Historical;
Museum. She was alsoqai 3 (i
member of Kings Mountain.

Gail Heavner Herndon, 66,
resident of Kings Mountain,
died Monday, July 8, 2013 at
Kings Mountain Hospice
House.
She was born in Cleve-
land County, NC, daughter
of the late Sidney E. “Pete
and Hilda Bookout Heavner.
In addition to her parents,
she was also preceded in
death by her husband of 44
years, Edward Hambright
Herndon. She retired from
the State of North Carolina
Division of Motor Vehicles
and was an active member of
Patterson Grove Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Herndon was a for-
mer member of the Study
Club and the Kings Moun-
tain Woman’s Club.
Gail loved to watch her
grandchildren participate in
sports and other activities
and enjoyed trips to the
beach with family and
friends and also loved to
play cards with her friends.
She was a.loving wife,
mother and Nana.

and husband, Todd, Nicole
Herndon Radford and hus-
band, Larry, and Missy
Herndon-Bailey and hus-
band, Scott, all of Kings

JUNE 27: Officer David
Warlick said that Kenneth

san was sideswiped by a
2010 Honda on I-85 South
operated by Laura Smith of
Shelby. The Askew car was
reportedly damaged $1,000.
Smith said that because of
heavy fog and rain on the
highway she was unaware
of the accident.
JUNE 29: Officer B.L.
Wilkinson cited Amber
Kissinger of Bessemer City
with failing to stop at the
scene of an accident after
the 2004 Kia she was driv-
ing hit a parked 1998
Chevrolet owned by
Nicholas Hegwein, 109
Luthers Road. The accident
happened on Northwoods
Drive. Property damages
were estimated at $7800.
JUNE 30: Officer Chris
McKnight cited Elizabeth
Jane Teague, 313 E. Parker
St., with permitting an unli-
censed minor to drive her
car after an accident on
Bennett Drive. The 15-year-
old girl was driving the car
on Chestnut Street and hit a
fenced area at 1 Bennett
Drive. Damage to the fence
was estimated at $600 and
damage to the 1994 Ford
was estimated at $500.
JUNE 30: Officer J. L.
Dee said that Franklin
Rutherford, 513 Rhodes
Ave., was turning into his
driveway and his 1999
Chevrolet was struck by an-
other vehicle and the driver
left the scene. Property
damage was estimated at
