Kenneth Robert “Rob- bie” Clary, 24, of 2024 Shelby Road, Kings Moun- tain, N.C., died shortly be- : fore 9 Llmerce i Drive in Gaffney, SC. Clary was operating a picker lift machine and was about 30 feet off the ground pulling orders of shoes from the shelves. His machine was struck by another ma- chine. Coroner Dennis Fowler said the force of the impact caused the machine to topple, sending Clary to the concrete floor below. Fowler said Clary died at the scene. The driver of the other lift machine was not injured. A native of Cleveland County, Clary was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Gerald Conn, C.B. Clary, and James Hall, Sr. Robbie Lillie “Sallie” Butler Hinson She loved flowers and animals KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lillie “Sallie” Butler Hin- son, 98, resident of Kings Mountain, N.C., died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at White Oak Manor, Kings Moun- 2 County, N.C., to the late Edward But- ler and Vertie Mae Canipe Butler. She was also pre- ceded in death by her hus- band, Boyce = “Curly” Hinson; brothers, Claude “Smokie” Butler, Lloyd But- ler and Guy Butler; and grandson, Jamie Gann. Mrs. Hinson was a for- mer employee of Kings Mountain Hospital and at- tended church services at White Oak Manor. She was the unofficial greeter at White Oak Manor. She was known as the “puzzle queen” and the “wheel chair race champion” while at Carolina Care Center. She was born in Cleve- land County, NC to the late William Mace Clack and Jeanette Legon Clack and - was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Will” Martin Dyke and three brothers and four sis- ters. Mrs. Dyke was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Cherryville and was re- tired from Blackwelder of Cherryville after 20 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved children. Surviving are her son, Rodney Martin Dyke of Lin- colnton; daughters, Wanda Wilson of Lincolnton, Sylvia D. Maples of Kings Moun- tain and Roxanne D. Watson and husband Ernest, Lenoir; sister, Margaret Herron, Dal- las; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren ~~ and three great-great grandchil- dren. Tbarris FfFuneral Home Sweet potato harvesting Saturday The first sweet potato harvesting will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Baptist Men's Camp off S. Lafayette Street in Shelby on Sharpton Road. Doug Sharp, one of the leaders of the community-wide project, said that harvesting will be held each Saturday at various places in the county. Volunteers are needed to help harvest the big crop of potatoes. Kenneth Lewis Dellinger Owner of Dellinger 's Jewel Shop KINGS MOUNTAIN - Kenneth Lewis Dellinger, 79, resident of Kings Moun- tain, N.C., died Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. He was born in Gaston County., N.C., to the late William Kenneth Dellinger and Martha Louise Wilkin- son Dellinger. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Diana Long Dellinger. Mr. Dellinger was the owner of Dellinger’s Jewel Shop, which was es- tablished by his family over 100 years ago. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, an active community leader, loving father and grand- daddy who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the first graduat- ing Battalion Commander of Camden Military Academy. He also served in the United States Army. The family’ would like to extend a spe- cial thank you to the staff of Kings Mountain Hospice House. Survivors include a son Ray Childers World War II veteran KINGS MOUNTAIN — Ray Childers, 87, resident of Summit Place, Kings Moun- tain, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Summit Place. He was born in York County, SC to the late Samuel Teal Childers and Myrtle Mauney Childers and was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Dover Childers and a son Randy Ray Childers. He was a member of Dixon Presbyterian Church and was retired from Minette Mills in Grover. A farmer, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a loving husband, fa- ther, brother and grandfather. Surviving are his son, Ricky Childers and Serena Flahurty, Hilton, SC; broth- ers, Robert Childers and wife, Alda Faye, and James Childers and wife, Margaret, sisters Mary Goforth and Annie Mae Berry and hus- band, Tom, all of Kings Lew Dellinget, Jr., and wife Linda, Kings Mountain; a daughter Holly D. The Shelby woman, a registered Girl Scout adult, is currently serving as a board member for her local region and on the human resources committee. As the chair of the fund development com- mittee, she motivates the committee by being a Juli- ette Gordon Low Leadership Society donor herself as well as sending out meeting no- tices, an agenda and sup- ported data needed for discussion. She served as a troop leader for 15 years and led Cleveland County as the service unit specialist. An ac- tive member of the Pioneer Girl Scout Council alumni group she was a girl member when Camp Golden Valley was founded and served as director of the day camp for many years. Mayse is also recipient of the Curved Bar, Outstanding Service Unit Manager Award, Appreciation Award and Honor Award.
