KM ladies win fourth straight Cleveland County championship Keeneh Dimetros, Xavier Johnson, Mountaineers bomb East Burke 11-1, lose to E. Rutherford Kings Mountain’s bats exploded for 18 hits in an 11-1 SMAC victory over East Burke Tuesday night inConnelly Springs. Every KM starter had at least one hit. The Mountaineers scored three runs in the first inning and broke the game open with three in the fourth. Alex Reynolds, Alex Grooms and Logan Stevens had three hits each. Will Wilson had two doubles, Daniel Barrett had a double and single, and Brandon Bell had two singles. Zach Hegler pitched the first six innings to. get the win. He had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning. He fanned three and struck -out three. Grooms came on to pitch the final inning, giving up one earned run. Thursday night at East Rutherford, Will Wilson led off the game with a home run to give the Mountaineers an early lead but the Cava- liers came back for an 8-5 win. Down 3-1, the Cavaliers scored three runs in the third and four in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead. Kings Mountain scored its final two runs in the fifth on Bell’s double and Grooms’ single. Landon Bolin started for the Mountaineers and took the ‘loss. He went 3.2 in- nings. Alex Reynolds pitched the final 2.1 innings. Kings Mountain carried a 3-6 SMAC and 4-7 overall record into last night’s home game with league-leader Burns. Kings Mountain High’s women’s track team won its fourth straight Cleveland County Championship Thursday at John Gamble Stadium. The Lady Mountaineers compiled 102 point to edge Shelby by five. The Lady Lions 97 points were followed by Malik Banner, 3:48.93. Second place winners for KM were: 800m run — Montanna Smith, 3:07. 3,200m run — Mackenzie Smith 15:18. 1600m run — Cassie Morton 6:43. Bolin went the distance on the mound, scattering eight hits and striking out eight. Lysek’s RBI single put KM up 1-0 in the fourth.
