A native of Chat- tanooga, TN, she was born January 12, 1920, daughter of Forest and Margaret Wil- kes Summerlin. Her fam- ily moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina when she was five years old, where they remained for 12 years. She attended and graduated from Escuela No. 1, Bertolome Mitre a Lomes de Zamu in the Provence of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She gradu- ated from Pittman Academy of Business in 1935. She as- pired to be a circus trapeze artist, however the circus never came to town. Margaret returned to the United States in 1937 and worked at Robbins Knit- ting Company in Spruce Pine, NC, where she met her husband, Raymond Daniel Dixon. They were married September 26, 1941. She lived in Asheville, NC and worked at Autrey Smathers Insurance Agency for 20 years until retiring in 1985. Margaret was an active church member throughout her life and loved the Lord and served him by praying, setting an example to ev- eryone she met, faithfully attending church and teach- ing Sunday School. For the past seven years she has been an active member of Dixon Presbyterian Church in Kings Mountain. Margaret was a well known local artist, enjoying pencil drawing, oil and water color painting and some pas- tel work. She was a member of the Southern Arts Society and contributed to the calen- dar pages regularly. In addition to her par- ents she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dixon, and her sister, Marie Swatzburg her brother, For- est Summerlin and sister, Francis Viglione. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Clapp and Pat Blanton and husband Richard, all of Kings Moun- tain; one sister Peggy Fielden of Silver Spring, MD; two grandchildren, Jennifer Blan- ton Hale and husband Shane of Lincolnton and Wesley Blanton and fiance’ Beth Graham of Clover, SC; and one great grandchild, Beth- any Blanton of Clover, SC. There will be a memorial service at Dixon Presbyte- rian Church at a later date and will be announced by the family.
