R Sherri was an amaz- ing wife, daughter, sister, mother and friend to all that knew her. Sherri was and always will be her family’s hero; the one that could al- ways make you laugh on. your worst day. She was loved and will be missed by all that loved her. She was the daughter of Margaret and the late Cling Baynard. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Collins and Donna Green. Survivors are her hus- band, Thomas Barber; sons, Jonathan Allen and Christo- pher Allen; siblings, Luther and Mary Collins, Bobby Collins, Phyllis Dellinger, Susan and Rick Stalcup, Wanda Baynard, and Floyd Collins Jr.; step-daughter, Angie Parks; grandchil- dren, Shirley, Julia, Tonya, and Alissa. A celebration of life was held Tuesday, November 11, at 6 pm at the Macedo- nia Baptist Church, South Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain. The family will be at the home of Thomas Barber at other times. In lieu of flowers, me- morials may be sent to Levine Cancer Institute, 1021 Morehead Medical Dr. Charlotte, NC 28204. She was born in Clover, South Carolina, daughter of the late Henry Loray Hen- derson and Lillian Camp Henderson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Camp- bell, a brother Steve Hen- derson and a sister Vivian Henderson Rikard. Phyllis graduated KMHS and for 40 plus years she was employed as a legal secretary for attorney Grady Stott at the law firm of Stott, Hollowell, Palmer and Windham, Gastonia, NC. An active member of First Baptist Church, she taught the 2 year olds Sun- day School Class for several years, enjoyed anything the Lord called her to do, in and out of the church and took great pleasure in being able to volunteer at The Com- munity Kitchen at Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by the fa- ther of her children Kenneth Roberts, Kings Mountain; daughter Yvette Roberts Cooke and husband David, Trinity, NC; sons Craig Roberts and wife Karen Ledford Roberts, Green- ville, NC; Scott Campbell and wife Marsha, Kings Mountain; brother Rance Henderson and wife Betty, Morganton, NC; sisters Patricia Henderson Tart, Roanoke Rapids, NC; Kay Henderson Davis, Kings Mountain; grandchildren Austin Cooke and wife Anna Clair Cooke, Hayden Cooke, Amber Cooke, Colton Roberts, Mackenzie Roberts, Sheldon Roberts, Lauren and Summer Camp- bell; great grandchild Judah Cooke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mar- garet and Nathan Davis; his brother, Kenny Parker; and his sister Myra Price. Roger was employed for 25 years at Hanover County Public Utilities. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Brenda C. Parker; his son, Keith (Susan); daughters Jeana Gann (Bobby) and Doris Morton (Mark); eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother Sonny Parker (Patsy); sis- ters Mona Hinson (Eddie), Dee Dee Howell (Ken); sister-in-law Vickie Parker; brother-in-law Carl Price; and a host of nieces and nephews. OCT. 27: Officer Chris McKnight said that Ronita Hunter, Gastonia, operat- ing a 2002 Honda, struck a 1993 Chevy operated by Laura Lawson, 305 Som- erset Dr., while attempt- ing to change lanes on US 74 Business. Hunter was charged with driving with no insurance and expired tag. OCT. 29: Officer M.D. Butler said that vehicles operated by Tara Burleson, 516 W. King St. and Mischele Harris Maples, 204 S. Goforth, collided in the turn lane on US 74 Business as Burleson exited the parking lot at Advance Auto. Burleson said a van stopped and the driver motioned her to exit the parking lot. Butler charged Maples with driv- ing while license revoked for an impaired driving re- vocation. OCT. 31: Officer D.K. Davis said that David Mc- Closkey, 331 Oak Grove Rd. Trailer 2, was at- tempting to park his 1995 Chevrolet on NC 216 and struck a parked 2004 Jeep owned by Charles Howell Jr. of Lawndale. Property damages were estimated at $1100. OCT. 31: Officer. F.L. Wittington said that Helen Crawford, 105 Marigold Ave., was slowing her 2004 Chrysler at the red light on King Street and her car was rear-ended by a 2004 Ford operated by Christopher * Chad Short, 113 Heather Lane. Short was given a citation. Property damages were minor. OCT. 31: Officer F.L. Wittington said Cornelius Scott, Clover, SC, driving his 2006 Chrysler on I-85, said the car hydroplaned and he lost control of it and hit a guard rail. Property damages were estimated at $5500. : NOV. 1: Officer D.K. Davis said that a 2014 Kia operated by Kather- ine Wright, 902 Sparrow Springs Rd, and Justin Ray of Denver collided on US 74 Business at Canterbury Road. Ray was turning on Canterbury into his work site. Property damages were minor. | NOV. 3: Officer G. McKinney said that Col- lin Foster, 1419 Merri- mont Ave., operating a 1991 Mazda, struck a 2012 Honda operated by John McGinnis, 1201 Wales Rd. The accident happened at N. Roxford Road and Sher- wood Lane with estimated damages of $1600. Both drivers said the windshield of the Foster car was cov- ered with frost. NOV. 3: Officer G.L. McKinney said that a three-vehicle accident hap- pened on I-85 involving a 2002 Volvo operated by John Rivera Jr., Stone Mountain,GA; a 2001 Honda operated by Thre- cie Brown, 849 Moun- tain Crest Dr., and a 2000 Honda operated by Krys- tal Adams, Anderson, SC. No injuries were reported. Property damages were es- timated at $2200. NOV. 4: Officer M.D. Butler said that Ginger McDaniel, 726 Dixon School Road, operating a 2012 Honda, backed from a parking space at Dollar General and struck a 1993 Dodge operated by James Falls, 604 Linwood Road. Property damage was minor. NOV. 4: Officer Kyle Bell charged Robert Max Helsdon, 716 E. Ridge St., with reckless driving after Helsdon wrecked his 1999 Ford on Hendricks Street. Bell said the Helsdon ve- hicle ran off the road, hit a City of Kings Mountain utility pole and flipped. Property damages were es- timated at $4500. NOV. 5: Officer Chris McKnight said a 2014 Kia owned by Earl Jay Lain- hart, 214 E. Ridge St., parked in his driveway, was sideswiped by a driver in a silver-colored Honda who left the scene. Slight damage was reported. NOV. 5: Officer F.L. Wittington said that Juan Almonte, Norcross, GA was backing his vehicle in the parking lot of the BP Station on York Road and hit a light pole doing a total of $3,000 estimated dam- age. NOV. 5: Officer F.L. Wittington said that Janet Lucas, 122 Stoney Ridge Dr., was stopped at a stop sign in her 2006 Chevrolet which was struck by a 2006 Ford operated by Joshua Mauney of Cherryville. Property damage was minor. The accident hap- pened on the US 74 Bypass ramp at Cleveland Avenue toward N. Piedmont. NOV. 6: Officer F.L. Wittington said that Ger- ald Williams, 206 Mary’s Grove Church Road, was backing his 2001 Honda from a parking space at Wiener Works and struck a 2001 Chevrolet operated by Johnny Sikes of Besse- mer City. Property damage was estimated at $1500. NOV. 6: Officer Chris McKnight said Karlie Tur- ton, Gastonia, operating a 2009 Toyota, rear-ended a 2004 operated by Robert Morgan of Bessemer City. Property damages were estimated at $2500. The accident happened on King Street at Railroad Avenue. NOV. 6: Officer F.L. Wittington said George Pasour, 140 East End Dr., backing his 1996 Olds from a parking space at Family Dollar, hit a 2000 Honda owned by John Petty of Kingstown, NC. Property damage was estimated at $1400.
