Page 2 8 OBITUARIES The Kings Mountain Herald | www.kmherald.com Doug McDaniel Enjoyed serving the Lord KINGS MOUNTAIN - John Douglas McDaniel, 83, life- long res- ident of the Beth- lehem Com - munity in Kings Mountain went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Decem- ber 4, 2014 at Kings Moun- tain Hospice House. Son of the late Lee and Eva McDaniel, he was born in Cleveland County. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis and Jack McDaniel and his sis- ters, Janelle and Priscilla McDaniel. A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church from his childhood, he loved his church, and his church family. He enjoyed the fellowship as well as serving the Lord. Through- out the years, he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Chairman of Dea- cons as well as serving on various committees and en- joyed singing in the choir. In August of 1950, along with several other young men from the community, he joined the Army and served with the 311th Sta- tion Hospital at Fort Bragg. Serving during the Korean Conflict, he received an honorable discharge in 1954, and returned to the family dairy farm. After returning to the farm, he continued in the dairy business for several years, followed by a ca- reer working with indus- trial processed piping. He retired as President/Owner from Bethlehem Piping & Welding Co., Inc., a busi- ness which was started by him and his brother-in- law, the late Jimmy Reyn- olds. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working around the farm with his John Deere tractor, wood- working, gardening with his wife of 63 years and cheering for his grand- children in their sports, farming, and business ventures. He was a loving husband, Dad, and “Paw”, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express our deepest appre- ciation to the entire Staff of Cleveland County Hospice, and the many friends who have helped in so many ways with his care. Your love, prayers, meals, visits, and support has truly been a blessing to his entire fam- ily. Parris Jfuneval Home Dale Putnam known as KM “Mountain Man” KINGS MOUNTAIN — Dale Franklin Putnam, 67, Kings Mountain, died Thurs - day, Dec. 4, 2014 after an | extended § illness. He was the son of the late: Ruth Ham- bright Putnam Early and the late Max Keaster Putnam. Surviving are his wife, Rob- bie of the home; two daugh- ters, Sarah (Bo Sewell) Summerton, Gastonia; Monica (Tommy) Mullins, Cornelius, NC; and two sons, Jon (Ruth) Putnam and Dale T. (Teresa) Wil- banks, both of Belmont; five brothers, Phillip (Viv- ian) Putnam, Terry Putnam, Roy (Debbie) Putnam, Den- nis (Terry) Putnam, all of Kings Mountain, and Gene (Jan) Putnam of Orange- burg, SC; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as many friends and supporters in Kings Moun- tain. Dale was most proud and best known as the Kings Mountain “Mountain Man.” He was a loved favorite at sporting and community events delighting many cit- izens in his attire of fringed suede, fox tail hat, powder keg and Bowie knife. Slycord, III “Tripp” age 42, resident of Kings Moun - | 2014 at his home. He was born in Cleveland Co. NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Dean Slycord, Jr, mater- nal grandparents, Joe and Ollie Wheeler; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Lillian Slycord; and great grandmother, Essie “Nun- nie” Stepp: Tripp was a member of East Gold Street Wesleyan Church. He loved to spend time outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He was a good hearted person who loved his kids and family, he will be greatly missed. Tripp, Mom and Dad love you very much. Williams, age 79, resident of 921 Ster- ling Drive, Kings 4 Mountain, died De- cember 3, 2014 at home. He was born in Cleveland Co, NC to the late Homer Williams and Madge White Williams. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Bell; two great grandchildren, Madison Bell and Whitley Robinson; four brothers, and two sisters. Mr. Williams served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Kings Mountain, VFW, and the American Legion Post 155, Kings Mountain. He was also a member of the PGA. Parris Funeral Home Wednesday, December 10, 2014 KM man among trio nabbed on drug charges LINCOLNTON -- A Kings Mountain man is in custody after Lincoln County police charged him with two counts of trafficking in co- caine, one count of maintain- ing a vehicle for a controlled substance and a third count of speeding to elude an ar- rest. Kareem Jamar Moore, 33, 1702 Northwoods Drive, is being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond. He was also charged with one misdemeanor count each of littering and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics investigators also arrested two others on Thursday in two separate in- cidents during a surveillance operation south of Lincoln- ton. Around noon that day, narcotics investigators were conducting an undercover operation near the Dollar General store in High Shoals and completed a hand-to- hand drug transaction with the J suspects. Tina | Marie Brown, 46, and Chris- tel Gantt Camp, 41, both of Gasto- nia, were taken into custody during the incident. Both were charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and de- liver a controlled substance schedule II, sell and deliver schedule II and conspiracy to sell and deliver. In addi- tion, Camp was charged with maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. All charges are felonies. Brown was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond while bond for Camp was set at $10,000 secured. Later that day, while investigators were continuing their surveillance operation at several locations Moore in the county, they observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of the Dollar General store in High Shoals. Investigators had received information that Moore would be transporting cocaine to the Lincoln County area. The suspect did not exit the vehicle but remained on a cell phone while looking around the parking lot, according to investigators. As he left the parking lot investigators pulled in behind the vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect with blue lights and siren when they observed the driver throw a bag of white substance out of the window. One of the trailing under- cover vehicles stopped and secured a bag of white pow- der, which turned out to be crack cocaine, while another chased the vehicle south on Highway 321 into Gaston County where it was stopped near the Hardin exit. Moore was taken into custody with- out further incident. WRECKS NOV. 13: Officer Chris Tate said that Rodney Odell Carr, 117 Railroad Ave., was backing his 2004 Mercury and his foot slipped off the brake and hit a brick wall at 117 N. Railroad Ave. Carr said he was trying to avoid a vehicle that was double parked in the spot beside his parking place at the apartments. Property damage was estimated at $2,000. NOV. 26: Officer M.D. Butler said that Judith Horne, 106 Lizzie Lane, operating a 2004 Buick, struck a parked 2007 Ca- dillac owned by Charles F. Davis of Gastonia. The ac- cident happened at Ingles Market. Property damage was estimated at $1250. NOV. 26: Officer G.L. McKinney said that an acci- dent on I-85 south involved three drivers who all stated that traffic had slowed for an unrelated accident. DEC. 1: Officer Kyle Bell charged Christopher Dale Adkins, 103 Ironwood Place, with driving while license revoked, reckless driving and hit and run after his 2009 Ford struck a 2008 Chevrolet operated by Amanda Ingram, 103 Iron- wood Place on East Gold St. Bell said that Adkins had stopped in the middle of the road and put his ve- hicle in reverse when the accident occurred.
