Murphey toys added to
KMPD collection Santa
came to visit Kings Moun-
tain Police Captain Derek
Johnson this week and
brought a load of Christ-
mas toys to add to the toy
collection under way by the
Kings Mountain Police De-
partment.
Santa received the toys
from the 20th annual Mur-
phey's Toy Run on Nov. 22
for benefit ‘of the Shriner's
Burn Center, Masonic Home
for Children, and Kings
Mountain Police Depart-
ment's “shop with a cop.”
Recently Det. Sgt. Lisa
Proctor and the Detective
Division staff have been
shopping for warm, winter
clothes for Kings Mountain
youngsters and police are
still looking for toys and
gifts of cash to spend on
needy young people. The
Toy Room, actually the large
training room at KMPD, is
beginning to fill with new
toys and clothing. Proctor
said that children's clothing
for ages 10-12 are needed
now as well as books, games,
etc. that children 10-12 like.
Police will start making
Santa deliveries next week
and just in time for Christ-
mas.
Captain Johnson said that
patrol officers usually carry
stuffed animals in their po-
lice cars to be able to give a
child something when a fam-
ily is involved in a wreck.
“It's something we like to
do," he said.

the joy of small blessings and
delicious snacks like sausage

gested.
Carol Dixon directed the
melodious bell choir concert
with Fran Bachman, Marie
Burris, Pauline Cole, Ted
Cole, Sandra Conrad, Glenda
