NC. She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and friend who
enjoyed crocheting, cooking,
dancing, and having a good
time. She was affection-
ately known to everyone as
“Granny.”

Margaret Norman Smith,
92, went home to be with
the Lord on Christmas Eve,
December 24, 2014.
Formerly of Grover,
NC but currently residing
in Kings Mountain, Mrs.
Smith was born on Janu-
ary 27, 1922 in the Antioch
Community near Grover,
NC to the late Jimmy Robert
and Julia Morris Norman.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death
by her husband of 38 years,
Travis C. Smith, a well re-
spected General Contractor.
She was the only sib-
ling of her family still liv-
ing, preceded in death by
each of her brothers and
sisters: Max Norman, Roy
Norman, Summie Norman,
Lester Norman, James
Norman, Mary Reed Nor-
man Conner, Pauline Nor-
man Watterson, and Ruby
Norman Huskey.
Surviving are her son,
Jerry Smith and wife Janet,
Las Cruces, NM; daughter
Janet Smith Hayes and hus-
band, Ted Hayes of Kings
Mountain; grandchildren:
Travis Patterson, Mollie

Mrs. Ware was retired
from Cleveland County
Schools and an active mem-
ber of Oak Grove Baptist
Church. She was a member
of the Friendship Sunday
School Class. She was a
loving mother who loved
her family and raised her
family in a loving Christian
home. She was a wonder-
ful southern cook and loved
sewing, gardening, and trav-
eling. The family would
like to extend a special
thanks to the staff of White
Oak Manor and her room-
mate, Janette Lail.
Surviving are her daugh-
ters: Kathy Ware Greene
of Shelby and Amy Ware
Pearson and husband, Tim,
of Kings Mountain; her
brother, Dean Costner of
Kings Mountain and three
grandchildren: Joe Ham-
rick, Kyle Hamrick and
Lacey Pearson.

be conducted Friday, Jan-
vary 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at
Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Pioneering Women
“Pioneering Women
of Cleveland County” is a
new exhibit to be featured
Feb. 7-May 23, 2015 by
the Kings Mountain His-
torical Museum.
Adria L. Focht, Mu-
seum director, says the
exhibit will celebrate
women’s history in Cleve-
land County and the sur-
rounding region from the
Revolutionary War to the
present day. The exhibit
focuses a spotlight on the
women whose courageous
acts helped to turn the tide
of the revolution, as well as
on our “founding mothers”
- the women who helped
establish and maintain our
area’s infrastructure, in-
dustries, hospitals, schools,
churches and civic organi- - |
zations.
The display will also
showcase local women
who were ground breakers
and leaders in their profes-
sions and reflect on how
our local history fits into
the broader narrative of
women’s history through-
out the nation.
