sweeps
KMHS
. Kings Mountain dropped
a pair of SMAC games
Monday night at Shelby,
losing the girls game 53-41
and the boys game 67-52.
The Shelby teams led all
the way.
In the girls game the
Lions built a big lead early
before the KM ladies rallied
to cut the margin to 26-20
at intermission, But Shelby
began rolling again in the
second half and put the
game away.
Kori West led Shelby
with 15 points and Kelsey
Farmer led KM with 10,
In the boys game, the
Lions roared to a 25-16
halftime lead and led 33-23
at the half and 47-37 going
into the final eight minutes,
Patrick Little was the
big difference for the Lions,
scoring 35 points. Nelson
McClain led the Mountain-
eers with 15,
Kings Mountain ends
its regular season Friday at
East Burke,
KM JVs
beat
Central,
Chase
Kings Mountain High’s
JV boys ran their record to
13-1 in the SMAC and 16-3
overall last week with vic-
tories over R-S Central and
Chase.
The Mountaineers de-
feated R-S Central 43-34
‘Tuesday in Rutherfordton.
Jadian Adams led the scor-
ing with 12 points. Dylan
Thrift added eight, Mike
Toms seven and Nolan
Raby six.
In their final home game
Friday afternoon at Parker
Gym, the Mountaineers de-
feated Chase 56-27. Raby
led the way with 16 points
and Jerdon Pressley added
12. Thrift scored eight.
Harry Bracken led the Tro-
jans with 10.

KMHS wrestlers lose Elite Intra League summaries,
in first playoff round yea of January 26, 2015
Kings Mountain fell to
North Buncombe 59-24 in
the opening round of the
state 3A dual team tourna-
ment Tuesday night at St,
Stephens High in Hickory.
Five of the matches
were decided by pins in less
than a minute, with North
Buncombe winning four
of them. Kings Mountain’s
only winners were Quentin
Nguyen, Cameron Morgan
and Rodell Bishop, all by
pins, and Coleman Higgins
by forfeit.

Kings Mountain Mid-
dle’s girls basketball team
defeated East Rutherford
Thursday to run their Tri-
County Conference record
to 6-2 heading into a home
game Thursday against R-S
Central.
East was leading 17-14
late in the second quarter
when KM went on a 10-0
run to close out the half at
24-17.
After some halftime ad-
justments, the Lady Patri-
ots outscored East 12-6 in
the third quarter to build a
36-23 lead. They contin-
ued their hot scoring in the
fourth quarter with a 13-4
run.
Hannah Clark led the
KM ladies with 23 points.
Aleenih Carter-Kee added
eight, Sarah Drennan, Mag-
gie Lloyd, Denysia Blak-
eney and Emily Graham
four each, and Mariah Josey
2.
“Essence Houser, Lloyd
and Graham did a great job
on defense getting to many
loose balls and stealing
many passes,” Coach Monty
Deaton noted.
Spring sports
practice to begin
High schools can begin
spring sports practice Feb-
ruary 16. Check with your
coaches to see when each
team will begin.
Kings Mountain High’s
track team will hold try-
outs February 17-19 at John
Gamble Stadium.
Regular season games
can begin on March 2.
Scrimmages can be held the
last week of February.
