She was ‘born in Cleveland Co. NC to the late Arthur “Ott” and .Joann Sanders. Mrs. Rad- ford was a member of First ‘Baptist Church, Kings Mtn. *NC where she was a member «of the Frank Morrow Sunday , School Class. She was a for- ‘mer hairdresser at Hazel’s ‘Beauty Nook for 18 years .and she worked for Phillips Dupont Optical for over 20 years. Recently, she worked as a caregiver. She was a loving wife, mother, grand- mother, sister, and friend who loved to cook, cared for her family deeply and who will be greatly missed. She was the Best Lady in the World. Born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late ‘ Walter Whitaker and Mar- garet Carpenter Whitaker, he was husband of 54 years to the late Shirley Whitaker and was also preceded in death by sister, Peggy Brooks and brother Bobby Whitaker. He was a longtime truck driver and mechanic and last worked for W&B Trucking, retiring with over 50 years of experience. He was a faithful member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church and served in the NC National Guard. He was a loving father, grandfa- ther, great grandfather who was a wonderful provider for his family. Frances Carroll Ellis GROVER - Frances Car- roll Ellis, age 76, resident of Grover, NC went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2015, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mtn. NC. She was born in Cherokee Co, SC to the late James Carroll and Della Har- din Carroll. She was also pre- ceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Douglas Lee Ellis. Mrs. Ellis was retired from Elizabeth Weaving. She loved gardening, loved her dogs and enjoyed going to yard sales. She loved and cared for her family deeply and will be greatly missed. A memorial service was held at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, Monday, March 30, at 4:30 p.m. Visitation was from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, March 30, prior to the ser- vice at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, North Car- olina. Winford Oliver GROVER - Winford Hoyle Oliver, 74, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Carolinas Health- care-Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jason and Sarah Melton Oliver. He attended Grace Covenant Church. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. BC Police hunt for robbery suspects Bessemer City Police need the public's help in identifying two suspects who robbed the Egewood Mini Mart, 1205 Edgewood Road, March 21. Police said two people, an African American man and woman, entered the business at 8:10 p.m. The woman de- tracted the employees by hav- ing prices checked on several items while the man entered the back office of the area, broke into the office and took cash and N. C. Lottery tickets without being noticed. The suspects then left the store in a gold-colored four-door car, possibly a Chevrolet or Cav- alier. Both the driver and child were taken to the hospital. Property damages were estimated at $16,000. w MARCH 26: Police charged Lamar Washington Whitfield, 22, of Garner, NC, with driving while li- cense revoked and leaving the scene of an accident after an accident in the parking lot of Italian Garden on E. King Street. Whitfield was backing his 2013 Ford from a parking space and hit a parked Hyun- dai owned by Katie Smith Costner, 102 Mail Road. Property damage was esti- mated at $1,000 to the Cost- ner vehicle. KM woman killed in wreck Thursday BESSEMER CITY - A Kings Mountain woman was killed in an accident on her way to work last Thurs- day morning. Tina Sanders Radford, 59, died at the scene on Bess Town Road near Davis Road about 9:45 a.m. Trooper Brian Huff- stickler said Radford was driving east on Bess Town Road when she ran off the right side of the road. She over corrected the Chev- rolet Avalanche pickup to get back on the road before over correcting again. The truck flipped several times and hit a tree before stop- ping. Radford was a care- giver and was on her way to work. Her funeral service was held Monday afternoon at First Baptist Church. Police seek suspects in March 23 robbery Kings Mountain Police are looking for two African American men in their mid- 20's who robbed the Amiya Express, 212 W. King St., at gunpoint on March 23 at 10:20 p.m. Officers said the store clerk’ reported that two males entered the store brandishing a weapon and demanded money. The clerk opened the cash register and the man took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store on foot headed North on Cansler Street towards Tracy Street. One of the suspects is of thin build weighing 180-200 pounds and standing 5'10 inches to six feet tall.
