Scholarships to cover 100% of the cost of tuition, books, fees and supplies are available for qualified students. August 17, 2015 - December 14, 2015 MACHINIST ACADEMY The Machinist Academy Program introduces machining operations as they relate to the metalworking industry. Students will learn how to safely perform the basic operations of measurement, layout, drilling, sawing, turning and milling. Students should also be able to ~ read simple blueprints, manually write simple CNC programs for the mill and lathe, and solve simple math problems as they relate to machining and CNC programming. Students will learn communication skills, resume writing, interview and job survival skills, and basic computer skills through the Cleveland County Work-Ready Certificate (WRC) class, and will be prepared to earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). CURRICULUM SCHEDULE MONDAY & TUESDAY 8:00 AM - 11:45 AM: Machining Technology 12:30 PM - 2:15 PM: Machining Calculations WEDNESDAY 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Intro to CNC (8 weeks) / CN Milling (8 weeks) ROBOTICS ACADEMY The Robotics Academy Program trains students to be experienced technicians who can program, troubleshoot, and repair robots or mechatronics devices in different applications. Students will learn communication skills, resume writing, interview and job survival skills, and basic computer skills through the Cleveland County Work-Ready Certificate (WRC) class, and will be prepared to earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). TUESDAY 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Intro to PLC 10:00 AM - Noon: Intro to Automation WEDNESDAY 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Hydraulics & Pneumatics THURSDAY 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Robot Programming FRIDAY 8:00 AM - Noon: WRC & NCRC THURSDAY 2 8:00 AM - 11:45 AM: Machining Technology 1:00 PM - 2:45 PM: Blueprint Reading ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS «High School Diploma or GED FRIDAY - Knowledge of basic math including algebra 8:00 AM - Noon: WRC & NCRC CONTINUING EDUCATION Monday - Friday, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM : Same classes as above offered. - Some experience working with tools and mechanical parts + Desire to work as a machinist or an automation technician with a long-term commitment This 16 week certificate has been developed in collaboration with local industry partners that have immediate needs for Machining and Automation skills. Students will have the opportunity to participate in job-shadowing days with industry partners.
