The Mountaineers blanked the Jaguars 30-0 behind the strong passing combination of quarterback Kaylon Wade and wide re- ceiver Mike Toms. The two connected for three touchdowns. - The Mountaineer de- fense also gave a great ef- fort, forcing four turnovers including a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by Jonathan Rikard. Tyler Osborne led the defense with an intercep- tion while Sedrick Morgan, Ian Bishop and Isaiah Dun- ovant forced fumbles. Other defensive stand- outs included JT Cash, Reese Rhinehardt and Ste- fan Chisholm. We played outstanding defense.” The Mountaineers’ first two touchdowns came just about as fast as the lightning. Chance Fredrick blocked a punt on For- estview’s second possession, and Bryan Sanders picked up the ball and rambled 17 yards for a touchdown to put the Mountain- eers up 7-0. Just before halftime, the Jag- uars took advantage of a slew of Mountaineer penalties to get to the KM three yard line where they were able to get a field goal from Dylan Disarro with 10 sec- onds left in the half. Kings Mountain’s Kavin Mosely returned the second half kickoff 67 yards for a touch- down and a 14-3 lead. A two- yard touchdown run by Darian McClain made it 21-3 going into the fourth period. “We got a great effort from our special teams,” Lloyd said. “Then, in the second half we got our game going. I was proud of our effort. All in all, it was a good night, especially holding their running back (Neal) like we did. We had a good game plan by our defensive coaches. We ran to the ball better. We ba- sically dared them to throw the ball. We had eight guys stacked up for him, Our defensive front did a great job. We swarmed him. I'd say during his career there have been very few games, if any, that he hasn’t scored. Jake Merchant did a great job on him. We moved him up to outside linebacker and he spied him all night.” The Mountaineers broke the game open early in the fourth quarter on 20-yard touchdown reception by Madisyn Bolin, and a 15-yard scoring run by Shaun Grier to go up 35-3 with 7:02 left in the game, Late in the game, a pass interference against KM gave the Jaguars a first down at the KM 27. After two incomplete passes and a two-yard sack by KM defensive lineman Sabien Beam, the Jags’ Jalen Sanders outjumped a KM defensive back for a 29-yard TD pass to round out the scoring. East Rutherford, a team that always plays its best against the Mountaineers, comes to town Friday with a 2-1 overall record. Lloyd expects the Cavaliers to be a tough test. “They always produce a very good team,” he said. “They run some spread and shotgun. They have good backs and good team speed. “They run a 3-3 stack de- fense which we don’t see very often, so that’s going to be a challenge. They’ll come in here ready to play.” Lloyd said a big key for the Mountaineers is to get back the offensive momentum they had in their first two games. “We have to take care of the ball,” he said. “We got in a hole early against Forestview with a dropped pass and some fumbles. We have to get that of our sys- tem and be consistent on offense. “Defensively, we need to keep the momentum from last Friday — run to the ball and tackle well. We had too many penalties and we’ll have to ad- just that in practice this week. “We're still looking to put all three phases (offense, de- fense and special teams) together every week,” he added. “If we do that our best games are still ahead of us.” é Name Number Position Grade THUS PHILIPS 1vv.iansvseriirerstsesessasssss 1 WR 7TH Deron Dean... ilies ives 2 DB 8TH Albert Hope......c...c.onnseis 4 3 WR 8TH Justin Friday......cuirunmeiathonds 4 LB 8TH Matthew Toms .......ccicenssinikesectonnns 5 WR 7TH Quentin Davidson .......ccuevresrsvnnes 5 WR 8TH Jordan Kendrick........v.useribiinrtnsnes 6 RB 8TH Belton Pressley... ......c..nsbisnrns 7 QB 8TH Logan'Patrick........cccoiersiseriresiisine 11 DL 7TH Cameron Stevens ..........vieivevines 15 QB 8TH Luke BiShOD........ocvssraensassedserecssrse 17 WR 8TH Devin Pressley .......... tere ries 20 RB 7TH TitusiClark ..... a i ainda: 21 RB 8TH Laz’ Welch... niin tin, 22 RB 8TH Ricaylen Mack.......cicvessseesersnssnenes 23 RB 8TH Carlos SIMS... vermis, 25 DB 8TH Brice Long .i....cioiisin iinet 30 DE 8TH Jalen RODETIS.....ccreciseesrsrssecresseress 31 WR 8TH Bameon WAISON .....cccousseresrsinere ins 32 DL 7TH Davin Allens. cic ohaiicibdim, 33 RB 8TH Chris Ruffalo......ci.cvieneerisnthones 35 RB 7TH Riddick Phonephet..........ccoecereunine 40 RB 7TH Nicholas BUITOWS...........c.cvusersivse 41 DE 7TH Liex Salvator. ii....cccciivees dericteies 44 LB 8TH COLI OVACH ov eireensisvisesnenerssinss 45 OL 7TH Dallas NOBLES. csc. oc casesssrosesnnreirsve 50 DB 8TH Jeremiah Adams........c....eerierrereinns 51 DL 8TH DI Bagwellsa anaemia 52 OL 8TH LucasiPerez uo iii bai, 53 OL 7TH Xavier Brownsii.... icin eressiiiiionssin 54 LB 8TH Triston Hannon.............
