Offense — Chance Frederick, 4-60 receiving; Madisyn

RB, 24-92 rushing. KM offensive line (Keenan Baker,
Collen Franks, Nick Hayes, Gage Kornegay, Max Peter-
son), wore down Burns defensive line in second half as
KM kept the ball for 32 plays compared to 16 for Burns.
Of those 16 plays, seven were sacks or TFLs and one each
for a pass interception and incompletion.
Defense — Chance Frederick, 3 sacks, 3 TFL; Dre Bell,
4 sacks, 2 TFL; Trevon Wilson, Bryan Sanders, Jerdon
were in on sacks and TFL.

Thursday night at John
Gamble Stadium,
It was the second straight
South Mountain Conference
victory for the Mountain-
eers, who travel to Shelby
tonight at 7 p.m. for another
county battle.
The. Mountaineers put
up a strong passing attack,
led by quarterbacks Kaylon
Wade, John Harmon Melton
and Chuckie Osborne.
Wade threw two touchdown
passes and Melton and Os-
borne threw one apiece.
Kings Mountain took the
opening kickoff and drove
60 yards in just five plays
to take a 6-0 lead on a 35-
yard run around left end by
Wade.
After a Burns punt was
downed on the KM 31, it
took the Mountaineers just
four plays to go up 12-0
as tight end Holden Turner
took a quick pass out in the
flat from Wade and outran
the Burns defense 54 yards
for a touchdown.
The Mountaineers barely
missed scoring on their
third possession, but Burns
recovered a fumble in the
end zone for a touchback.,
The Mountaineers also lost
a fumble on their next pos-
session.
AJ Austin sacked the
Burns quarterback on a
fourth and seven attempt
to set up KM’s third scor-
ing drive from the KM 48.
A screen pass from Wade
to Reese Reinhardt that re-
sulted in a 24-yard gain got
things going. Three plays
later Quenten Zanders ram-
bled 22 yards for a touch-
down, and Chris Brittain

caught a two-point conver-
sion pass to put the Moun-
taineers up 20-0.
Brittain made an out-
standing catch of a fade pass
from Wade for an 11-yard
touchdown with 17 seconds
left in the half, putting the
home team up 26-0 at the
break.
Melton hit Tyler Os-
borne with a six-yard TD
pass to run the score to 32-0
with 4:40 left in the third
period; and it was Chuckie
Osborne to Tyler Osborne
on a 53-yard hookup that
ran the margin to 38-0 with
2:30 left in the quarter.
KM had two more drives
in the fourth period that
were halted by fumbles.
