Connie Phifer Savell, Eta State First Vice President of the Cleveland County Delta Tau Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society In- ternational (DKG), attended the annual fall Eta State NC Organization Executive Board Meeting, held at Elon University in Elon, NC, on September 12. Sheila Groves, Eta State president, and other state officials conducted the meeting. One of the highlights of the meeting was the collec- tion of pledges that members had made during the past year for the new North Car- olina Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation. The foundation has recently been duly approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit orga- nization. The pledges were in response to The 100 Chal- lenge—Launching a Dream issued by the foundation. Each of the eleven regions in North Carolina was chal- lenged to obtain 100 pledges of $10. The response was ter- rific—1,130 pledges, totaling over $17,000, were made, Chapter presidents collected the tax deductible donations and brought them to the meet- ing. The foundation will pro- vide grants for professional development, classroom and chapter projects, research, personal growth, and civic engagement. Chapter currently has 24 members. : Students perform “Frozen” at Neisler Life Enrichment Center An adaptation of the 2013 American 3D computer ani- mated musical fantasy film, “Frozen," was presented in a play by two students of Joan Baker to participants of the Neisler Life Enrichment Center recently and got rave reviews by Debbie Vaughn, Outreach Director, other members of the staff and par- ticipants. Joan Baker's Studio of Fashion Modeling, TV Com- mercials, Pageantry and Stage of Kings Mountain showcased the singing and acting talents of two of her young Miss stu- dents. Joan choreographed ‘and directed a play portraying the student version of “Frozen,” a Walt Disney fantasy film inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, “The Snow Q ueen.” The film tells the story of a fearless prin- cess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged iceman, his loyal pet reindeer and a naive snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eter- nal winter. The screen play, commissioned in 2011, was written by Jennifer Lee. By January 2015, Frozen, had be- come the all-time best-selling Blue-ray disc in the United States. The role of Elsa, the prin- cess, was played by Gracie Gracie Webster, left, and Camden Pasour perform for partic- ipants of Neisler Life Enrichment Center in Kings Mountain. The role of sister Anna was played by Camden Pasour, 7, daughter of Ken- neth and Heather Pasour of Dallas. The young singers and ac- tresses were in character and costumes like their characters in the movie. Camden sang, “Do you want to build a snowman?” and Gracie sang “Let it go” and together they sang “For the first time in forever.” They ended their perfor- mance with a hug, a smile, a bow and a curtsy. t Mrs. Baker presented to. each performer a Frozen tote, bag and a balloon.
