The following remarks and ' snggestious relative to this immensely popular instrument will doubt lss interest and profit very many of our readers; wc conanu-mt the article to their cartful perusal : A hundred and one makers of Oreaos, Cot tare, ParloV, Cabinet, American, School Organs, etc., etc., are each claiming- to make the beat instrument m the world, living comparatively a new instru ment, as at present constructed, we are convinced the public are much le capable of judging of its merits, or demerits, than of most other instru ments If thcro is really an essential difference in them, if there are some excellent and some worth less ones, the public should have some criterion for judging of them, some facts which will enlighten them. W e cheerfully concede the sjiace for this ar tide, knowing that there is hardly a family, or church, or school in all the land, but is more or les interested iu this topic e are also aware of it being a great misfortune, a real calamity, to any of them to purcliaso an inferior or worthless Or ine. and often a Source of noyance and vexation. We know this ar ticle to emanate from a candid and intelligent osurce, and thus wc give it to our readers. The question Is often asked, what are "rved or gansT" We ans'wer, they art, in most cases, noth ing in the world but the old melodian in disguise Many of the so. called organs have the same bel lows, the same reeds, and the same general internal arrangement. With tho bellows turned on edge to gaia room, they have simply put on a more pre teutions exterior, and a more high sounding name Out ao organ, to be in reality an tgan, must have wind chest or reservoir for air separate from the. Im-Uows, into which wind-chest the reeds open, and the toHe has toom to expand and perfect itself into the full round tone, similar to the flute or pipe or gan, even, smooth, firm, and mellow; and this tonv from reens cannot ow obtained in any other way known. Nothing so annoys a true organist as to have the volume of Sound swelling and jerking spasmodically with rery variation of force on the bellows, tthicli ,s always the caso when the reeds open direct into tuo hclloca or air passage. In stead of a wind-chest or sound box. And yet tome makers een go so far aa to claim this spasmodic or automatic jerking of the bellows on the reeds as an excellence, just as though ther did not know that it mast very soon throw the reeds out of tune, and njuie the bellows; and as though it were not an eaier matter to obtain a mucn better and more easily managed swell by other methods. The truth , any organ, so-called, or melodeon which has the wind acting directly up.m the rwl, is nothing more nor less than a huge accordeon, dress it au as vou may. Aid wbfco organists and true musicians become aware of the. fact that they can obtain those Wholesale and Ettail, at the Ycry Lowet t Prices. . Made with the Insulated Iron Rim and Frame (cat In ono aolid plate.) They exerll all others io durability, snperiority of tone, and elegance of exter nal appearance. AM these Pianos have ovcrsttung Scales, giving in connection with the patent iron rim and frame, Full Round Powerful, and Stctet Mdlow 7Vf. The large divided bellows, or doable bellows, is also a very important improvement. By this means not only can the wind be snppuea more cvenlr. but with far greater ae to the performer, from the fact that either bellows aloac will be suGcieni fur th ; lighter oelodk'S, thus permitting tVe player to change a boot and rest the feet at will ; then, if the bUora is of the requisite large size, and having the wind-clw-st or reservoir, all will be well.
