It is reported that R. Bruce Etheridge, Director of the N. C. State Department of Conserva tion and Development, is about to open negotiations with the Hecksher interests, owners of ' the lake property, for the pur pose of securing a long time lease on the property. If such a deal is cor.su! Jnated ar. 1 the lake put under state contr.il and supervision, many fresh streams in North Carolina or:e plentiful with game fish but now almost .barren, could be stocked from the surplus supply found in the lake. Since the refilling of the lake itB waters are literally "working ilive" with large ivVuth bass weighing frcai one-half to one pound and fishermen have flock ed there from r!1 parts of the state and ir. n sime and with little eil'ort --..v'-t the limit.
