Speedway patrons and fair-' goers are guaranteed a com pletely new package of high speed thrills this season when the All-American Hell Dri vers make their debut at the Cleveland County Fair with shows each evening October 5-9 at 7:30 P.M. Headed by veteran stuntman and co-owner Jake Plum- stead, who for 22 years has kept audiences in high-key suspense with his performan ces with oneofAmerlca’sold- est and greate.s t thrill show aggregations, the All-Amer ican Hell Drivers has sched uled a program that will guar antee to put the "thrlH” back in the term ‘thrill show’. Plumstead and co-owner Robert E. Kaltenbach have maintained the "All Amer ican” concept of their new venture with the selection and exclusive use of American Motors products for their performing vehicles. Plumstead’s reservoir of stunt knowledge dates back to 1048 when he first joined a thrill show. And his ever- expanding repertoire was one of the highlights of the New York World’s Fair inl964and ’65, when he participated in more than 4000 shows, both at the fair and on the East Coast Fair Circuit. So spectacular was his act that NBC Commentator and star of the "Today Show”, Hugh Downs, accounpanied Plumstead In his ramp-to- ramp leap for life In a pick up truck. The ride was filmed and aired on the NBC "Today Show.” Subsequently ’‘Jump ing Jake” appeared on "To Tell the Truth”, confounding tbe panel with filmed exhibi tions of his exploits. Partners Plumstead and Kal tenbach stress the family en tertainment aspect of the All American Hell Drivers by tel ling Cleveland County Fair Board officials of the fact that all their performers are family men — in the bus iness of entertaining the pub lic. In discussing this aspect of the show, Plumstead told Cleveland County Fair offic ials that over the years it has been proven that mar ried performers are more stable, more easily adaptable to meeting the fair-going pub lic, and more considerate of eager youngsters seeking au tographs before and after the performances. The All American Hell Dri vers scored a virtual coup in obtaining veteran thrill show announcer and former cbs newsman Paul Rushe to handle the announcing chores and public relations for tbe show. Rishe, who handled the mike at the NewYorkWorld’s Fair, has appeared as grand stand Emcee before audiences of more tlian 85,000 people. During his broadcasting Car eer, Rushe is credited with participating in the first live broadcast carried over com mercial networks from a dis abled submarine on the ocean bottom in 1948. Selection of this outstand ing Thrill Show and Grand stand Performance is due to the ceaseless efforts of Mr. E.L. Weathers and the Cleve land County Fair Committee to bring fair-goers the ab solute finest in grandstand entertainment. The All-American Hell Dri vers booking assures a ban ner year for Cleveland County Fair-goers. knowif' V \ When is the "Harvest Moon” this year and why is it thus called?
