This somewbat peculiar sweet potato was grown by Charlie McKenny of the Compact area. He must have bad some doubt as to whether he had grown plant or animal. OBITUARIES HOPE Winfred Hope, age 60, of 929 Grace, In Kings Mountain, died Nov. 14, 1971 at 2 P.M. In Kings Mountain Hospital after a four week illness. Surviving him Is his wife, Ada Annie Howell Hope. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. James Isiah Hope. One daughter, Mrs. Shirley Aon Cobb, K.M. Four sons: James Hope, Ohio; Windred Hope, Jr., K.M Kenneth and Larry Hope, Morganton. Two brothers: Milton Hope, K.M.; Lawrence Hope, K.M, Three sisters: Mrs. Wilma Lytton, Gastonia; Mrs. Sue Rice, Grover; Mrs. Harold Riddle, K.M. Nine grsind-children He was affiliated to Temple Baptist Church. Funeral services were held in HarrlsFuneral Home, Tue sday at 4 P.M. Services were conducted by Rev. N. Bush. Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church. CLARK Darlene Glbbie Clark, 29 of 'KI5 S, Sherman SL, Gastonia, died November 12,attheGas- ton Memorial Hospital, Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jessie J. Glbbie. She is also survived by her husband, Earl A. Clark. Three sisters; Mrs. Gerald Hardin, Mrs. W.C. Thomas, Mrs. Russell Fox of Gastonia. Three brothers; Harold, Danny and Ronnie Glbbie, all of Gastonia. Funeral services were held Nov. 14, at 3 P.M. at the Beech Ave, Baptist Church. Services were conducted by Rev. Homer Wilson, Rev. James Ellis, and Rev. S. M. Lane. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Three step-daughters; Mrs. Jerry Stlwell, Gastonia; Mrs. Betty Patterson, Gastonia; Mrs. James Rose, Clover. Two step-sons; William Rad ford, Gastonia; Gene Radford, California. One sister; Rev. Foy Mary Mercer, Rocky Mountain. Two brothers; Harold B. OF Lancaster, N.C.; L.J. Bag- well, Gastonia. One half brother; Lee Bag- well, Bessemer City. Funeral services were held at Sisk Chapel at 3; 00 on Tues day. Services were conducted by the Rev. A. A. Padgett. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia. BOWEN Ernest Lake Bowen, Sr, age 77, of 111 E, King of Kings Mountain, died November 11, 1971 at 11:30 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Paul Ausley. His wife was Evelyn Walden Bowen, Deceased. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Delany Wilson Bowen. He is survived by two sons; Mr. Ernest Bowen, Jr., Tupelo, Miss.; Mr. David Bo wen, Dallas Texas. One daughter, Mrs. Paul Ausley. One sister; Mrs. R. M. Faulk ner, Memphis, Tenn. and Three grand-children, one great grand-child. Funeral services were held at the 1st Methodist Church, Tupelo, Miss, on Sunday. Burial was in Tupelo, Miss. JOHNSON Mrs. Virginia Johnson, age 63, of the Ebenezer Commun ity died last night at Kings Mountain Hospital. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Alice Lutz of Kings Mountain. One son, Ralph Johnson of Kings Mountain. Three grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Services were conducted by the Rev. Dennis Wilson. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Church Yard. BAGWELL Willard William Bagwell, age 60 of 1304 Union Rd., Gastonia died Nov. 14, in the Gaston Memorial Hospital.
