They made my stay as pleasant as possible and 1 am still amazed at the amount of personal kindness I rece ived from members of the staff. We read letters about women who shout at their children and at people in their family but what do you do about a woman whose voice is so loud that she drowns out all other voices when she begins to talk? And the worst part of the whole thing is that she doesn’t mind interrupting people in the midst of a conversation. You can abso lutely hear nothing but what she is saying and docs she like to hear herself talk! Lots of the tales she tells are not absolutely true but it is a losing battle if any one tries to get in a remark. What should we do about this'’ Deafened—N.C. Answer: There is nothing ruder than interrupting people and taking over the conversa tion. Any child who has been taught manners knows that one person should speak at a time and await his or her turn. Of course, this is hard to do when one of these compulsive talkers begins a lengthy monologue but it is better than having several voices going at the same time. Someone should tell your friend how people are react ing to her behavior but the question there is the one put to the storybook mouse: "who will bell the cat’’’’ Louisa. ble to chop my pills in half knowing that I hate to swallow anything large. The greatest luxury of all was the cup of hot tea with every meal that couldn’t have been any better even on the other side of the Atlantic! Activity Agenda D.A.R.
