FEBRUARY 16, 1972, PAGE 5 “Seven Flags Over Scouting” Theme Of Feb. 22 Thinking Day The Kings Mountain Com munity Center wUl be buzz- king wit h activity on Tuesday ^February 22nd at 7 p.m.when local Girl Scout troops will be celebrating '‘Thinking Day,** “Thinking Day" 4 cele brated on February 22nd of each year. All over the world Girl Scouts and Girl Guides gather to honor the birthday of both Lord and Lady Baden- MILE Powell. Girls of member countries symbolically join in recognition of the spirit of scouting that unites them in international friendship. In Kings Mountain, the theme of Thinking Day will be Seven Flags Over Scouting. The seven flags which will fly over the event are the United States Flag, the World Assoc iation of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Flag, the Pioneer Girl Scout Council Flag, a Brownie Troop Flag, a Junior Troop Flag, a Cadette Troop Flag and a Senior Troop Flag. Each participating troop will represent a member country by displays, songs, dances or national costumes of that country. Samples of food will be given away. Each troop will have the fUg of its country on display. All parents of Girl Scouts and the public are Invited to attend this event. There is no ad mission charge. Steve comes here from Charlotte where he is a stu dent at Southeastern Beauty College. He lias a wealth of stage experience. After grad uating from PaxonSenior High School, in Jacksonville, Fla. he won honors and scholar ships with the Ballet Guild and worked with the Fairfax Little Theatre. Steve was a dancer in the • cast of the outdoor drama ['Cross and Sword” in St. Augustine, Florida for two seasons. While attending the University of Alabama, Steve studied with the Little Thea tre “Town and Gown” and he was a dancer with the Ala bama Ballet Co, He has choreographed a number of shows. To Find A Man” handles the situation in a fashion ^^^you forget it’s just acting- can be any-town U.S.A. “Here, 17-yoar-old Rosalind (Pamela Martin) realizes she’s not so sophisticated when she finds herself preg nant. Immediately she thinks of an abortion as the easy way out. That can be more trying than she wants to admit. Andy (Darren O'Conner), only sixteen, attempts to make the right contacts but this s(*nsitive boy experi ences great stress when faced with this adult prob lem. Rosalind's parents, play- (‘d by Phyllis Newman and Lloyd Bridges, aren't exact ly the concerned parents. But the physician (Tom Kwell) and druggest (Tom Bosley) are well placed in their parts. In seeing this "GP-rated film” the very young should realize k(‘x is best saved until they’re more mature. It’s a film that is honest, humorous imd a hit .sad—all in the right places. Lynch 4. t STEVE BAITY Upon returning from New York in 1969, Steve decided the Kings Mountain Little Theatre's production of “The Curious Savage.” He has also helped backstage and technically with the product ions of “Cinderella” and "The Mousetrap”. Cindy Robinson made her stage debut with the Kings Mountain Little Theatre last summer when she played the role of Gloria, gangster's moll, in "Everybody Loves Opal.” After helping back- sUge during the production of "The Mousetrap,” Cindy aud itioned for and received the role of Carol Wlmsley in “Surprise”! Carol Is the young somewhat inexperien ced and bewildered college student grand-daughter of the plays main character, Ella Wimsley, retired star of sil ent movies. Cindy is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Sam Robinson and she is a sopho more at Kings Mountain High School, where she Is an honor roll student. Mike Muscat will be remem bered for his performance as CINDY ROBINSON Christopher Wren In the “The Mousetrap.” Following tliat challenging role, Mike has accepted an even more chal lenging task of playing two separate characters in "Sur prise!” He will be portray ing "The Stranger” who is actually an escaped inmate of Peaceful Hollow Rest Home and he will also play the role of Morgan Crux, the hippie boyfriend of Carol Wlmsley. Mike comes from Gastonia where he has had stage ex perience at Hunter Huss High School and the Gastonia Little Theatre, He is presently at tending the Carolina School of Broadcasting in Charlotte MIKE MUSCAT and he hopes to be a D.J. by the summer. In April, he will be appearing at Ovens Auditorium In Charlotte in "Youth In” which will feature talent from Mecklenburg col leges and high schools. “Youth In” is sponsored by W. B. T. V. and the Interact Club of Charlotte. Mike will be doing a dramatic reading from "John Brown's Body” by Stephen Vincent Benet. In addition to his school work, Mike is also taking private copywriting lessons from Vivian Harris, head copywrit er of W.B.T.V, Mike, his wife, Vicki and baby son live in Gastonia.
