In the Industrial League, Gastonia Knit has come on strong after losing to Caro lina Throwing by beating both Dicey and Duplex. They, along with Skidmore’s, have made the league race quite a bit more Interesting. An interesting sldellte is there are teams who are stronger on paper than others, but then, ballgamesaren’twon on paper. Pre-s«ison favor ites more than often fall on their faces, particularly in softball. I wouldn’t go out on a limb and pick any one team to win the title, but I will say there are eight who could win it. Look for a lot of upsets In the Industrial League. Interesting games this week are Carolina Throwing vs. Champion’s; Dicey vs. Cha mpion’s; Craftspun vs. Skid- Danny Hartsoe letting one fly. Sports Mirror Photos By Lem Lynch more’s and Gastonia Knit vs. Oxford. I haven’t seen any fire-ball ing pitchers In the league yet, but there sure are a lot of guys striking out. I think some people are getting fooled at the plate. What’s in a nickname? Well, we have some Interesting ones in the Industrial League.
