The "Little Mountain eers” finished second, with a 6 and 1 record, in the Trl- County Conference last sea son and now hopes to finish In first place this year. • FRESHMAN SCHEDULE September 21-At Crest 28-SheIby October 5-At Grier 12-Mt. The Duke "Blue DevUs” traveled down to Alabama (my Alma Mater) to play the “Crimson Tide” of ole Bear Bryant and got beat 35 to 12. Meanwhile, the defending champions, the North Caro lina “Tar Heels” got by Ric hmond 28 to 18; Wake Forest beat a stubborn Davidson team by 26 to 20; and N.C. All of the "Little Mountaineer” games will start at 4;30 p.m. in John Gamble Stadium. Kings Mountain lost fumbles on their own 36 yard line and also on Chase’s 25 and 9 yard lines. Tony Falls led the "Moun taineers” rushing attack with 88 yards in 14 carries and Ja- von Smith had 66 yards in 9 carries. In addition to Falls’ defen sive play, the defensive line, led by Dennis Hogue, Harlee Davis, Larry Hamrlckand Al fred Ash, all played well. Ho gue played an outstanding ga me with 10 tackles while Davis made an outstanding play on downing the ball on the 1 yard line. The defensive secondary, which appeared to look a lit tle weak against B'vsemer City, looked like the Balt imore "Colts” secondary a- galnst Chase. They held "Trojan” quarterback Tony Fowler to only 1 completion in 11 attempts. Coach Bobby Jones seemed real pleased over his team’s performance and said he was already thinking about his next opponent. East Rutherford. Knowing Coach Jones, the "Mountaineers” wlllberea- dy.
