RECIPE OF THE WEEK
nil NESE CHICKEN

1 cup chopped pecans
U cup salad oil
2 boned, raw chicken breasts
I cup onion slices
14 cups celery (cut on bias)
2 cups canned chicken broth
1 T sugar
1 T cornstarch
2 T sherry (optional)
3 T soy sauce
1 can (5 oz) bamboo shoots
1 can water chestnuts (sliced)
Rice or toasted Chow Mien
Noodles
Brown pecans in oil, drain
on paper towel, reserve oil.
Cut chicken into small strips,
cook in oil until well done
(about six min.). Remove
from skillet. Add onion slices,
celery and 4 cup chicken
broth to the oil. Cook five
minutes. Combine sugar,
cornstarch, sherry, soy sauce
and 14 cups chicken broth.
Add celery and onion in
skillet. Also add chicken,
bamboo shoots and water
chestnuts. Heat until thick.
Serve on rice or toasted Chow
Mien noodles. Serves Six.

Double Ring Ceremony Unites Kathy, Kenneth
Kathy Sue Bowen and
Kenneth Eugene Queen were
married in a double ring
ceremony Sun., Feb. 10 at 3
p.m. at Westover Baptist
Church by the Rev. Floyd R.
Willis, pastor of Young St.
Baptist Church of Concord.
Pianist was Mrs. Mike
Huffstickler and vocalist was
Mrs. James Sanders, both of
Kings Mountain. Selections
played were “Love Story
Theme,” “Oh Promise Me,’’
"Wither Thou Goest” and
“The Wedding Prayer,”
which was sung as the couple
knelt. — ■
The church was decorated
with two seven branch can
delabra with white tapers.
’Two altar vases contained
mixed flowers and the ar
chway was trimmed in
greenery.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore
an original design created of
silk organza and imported
Venise lace posed over taffeta.
’ITie empire bodice featured a
low scoop neckline outlined
with lace florets. Satin ribbon
circled the raised waistline.
Full bishop sleeves trimmed
with lace sprays and deep lace
trimmed cuffs at the wrists.
’Die column skirt had a double
lace trimmed flounce at the
hemline and extended around
the chapel length train. The
train was a mantilla veil of
English tulle trimmed with
garlands of lace sprays and
caught to a lace camelot cap.
The bride’s bouquet was a
cascade of yellow roses and
white feathered carnations.
The matron of honor was the
bride’s sister, Mrs. Douglas
Moss, RL 2, Kings Mountain.
She wore a mint green, empire
waist, floor length dress with
long sleeves. Her shoes were
of matching color. She carried
three yellow mums with
streamer.
The mothers of bride and
groom wore floor length, long
sleeved aqua dresses with
matching shoes. They also
wore white carnation cor
sages.

their daughter Rita Renee, to
Richard Konrad Borov, son of
Mrs. Clara Borov and the late
Richard Borov of 303 Silver St.
The bridegroom-elect is a
graduate of Kings Mountain
high. The double-ring
ceremony will be held Sun.,
May 5 at St. Matthew’s
Lutheran Church.

The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Loren
Bowen of Rt. 2, Kings
Mountain. She is a 1971
graduate of Kings Mountain
High and is now employed in
the accounting department at
Kingsmont Knits, Kings
Mountain.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene
Queen of Rt. 2, Kings Moun
tain. He completed his high
school education in the Navy
and is currently serving in the
Navy in Charleston, S.C.
Hostesses for the
cakecutting were Mrs. Fred
Wells of Kings Mountain, Mrs.
C.F. Compton of Kings Creek,
S.C., Mrs. Roy Lee Bryson of
Gastonia and Mrs. Donald
Richardson of Bessemer City.

Myrtle Beach, the bride wore corsage, taken from the bridal
