PaKe2A KINGS MOUNTAIN MIRROR Thursday, M:: eh 14.1974 KM On Top I When Rain Kings Mountain Hospital Report i Came Down Tuesday’s non-conference baseball game between Kings Mountain’s Mountaineers and Burns was rained out in the bottom of the third inning with KM on top 8-4. Coach Barry Gibson, whose club begins Southwest Con ference Division One play Friday at East Gaston, said the Burns game would not be made up. The Mounties struck for all of their eight runs in the home half of the second inning, then Bums came back with all four of its tallies in the top of the third. Southpaw John McGill started on the mound for KMHS but was relieved by Richard Gillespie after Bums scored its four runs. The Mounties sent 12 men to the plate in the second, scoring their eight runs on singles by Steve Southwell and Chuck Austin, a double by Kenny Falls, four bases on balls and four Burns errors. Mary Elgin, Debbie Moore, Randy Page and Lane Logan will represent KMHS, along with their DECA teacher, Mrs. Carolyn MeWhiter. Friday’s activities will include contests, interviewing officer-candidates for the coming year, leadership training and tours of places of interest in Winston-Salem. Saturday will be an awards day. Mrs. MeWhirter said several businessmen from across the state will be selected as lifetime members of the DECA and a special feature will be the awarding of a plaque to the D.E. Man of the Year. Several awards will also be presented to students.
