Area Deaths and Funerals OBIE REVELS Obie Jackson Revels, 79, of Dellinger St., Ranlo, died Sun., Apr. 14 at 11 p.m. in Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of World War 11, atextile worker and the son of the late Haze Revels and Lizzie Weavel Revels. Surviving are his widow. Lulu Stamey Revels; one daughter, Mrs. Randy Williams of Ranlo; two sons, Gary Dean Revels of Ranlo and Terry J. Revels of the U.S Navy, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Jones of ^oney Point and Mrs. Lawrence Quinn of Raleigh; two brothers, Clyde Revels of Dallas and Albert Revels of Hickory; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mountain View FVee Will Baptist Church by Ihe Rev. Homer Savage. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Cemetery. Sisk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MRS. CARA BRIDGES Funeral services for Mrs. Cara Ellen Wright Bridges were held Friday at 4 p.m. at Long Creek Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Allen Morrison and burial was in the Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Wri^t, of Rt. 1, Kings Mountain, collapsed at Harris Funeral Home Wed., Apr. 10 as she viewed the body of her son, Howard, who died Tue^ay of cancer. She was pronounced deed on arrival at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David P. Wright. She was emidoyed at Oxford Mill. Mrs. Bridges was 59. Survivors include her husband, Roy Ervin Bridges; one son, Dennis Bridges of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Mrs. Leo Myers of Kings Mountain; four brothers, Travis and Melvin Wri^t of Deland, Fla. ; three sisters, Mrs. Wayne Putnam and Mrs. SiAiey Hickos of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. William Carroll of Clover, S.C.; and five grandchildren. J.W. ' Stiles and burial was in City Memorial Park. Elmore, of Rt. 3, Kings Mountain, died Friday at 1 p;m. at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A Lincoln County native, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mae Heavener Elmore and operated Elmore’s Grocery in Kings Mountain. He was 63. Survivors include his widow, Florence Sellers Elmore; six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Thomas, Mrs. Peggy Haynes, Mrs. Dorothy Davis of Lincolnton, Mrs. Sarah McClure of Dallas, Mrs. Caroline WUson of CherryvUle, and Mrs. Prue Conner of Crouse; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Frances Bowen and Mrs. Lily Costner of Bessemer City, and Mrs. Janie Black of CherryviUe; one stepson, Johnny Murray of High Shoals; two half- brothers, Fitzhug^ Elmore of Lincolnton and Bill Elmore of Dallas; five half-sisters, Mrs. Zeb Murphy of Crouse, Mrs. Douglas Brackett, Mrs. Warren Griffith of Lincolnton, Mrs. J.C. Bynum of Charlotte and Mrs. Kevin Mitchem of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one stepsister, Mrs. Fitzhugh McGinnis of Lincolnton; 43 grandchUdren; and 11 great- grandchUdren. LAWRENCE D. STYERS Funeral services, for Lawrence Dixon Styers are scheduled today at 4 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. C.A. Boat and burial wUl be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Styers, of 315 Wilson Terrace, Kings Mountain, died Monday at his home. A retired employe of Mur-Glo Mill, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mra. Pless Styers. A veteran of World War Two, he was a member of Kings Mountain American Legion. He was 67. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Mae Foster Styers; three sons. Jack M. Styers of South Gate, Mich., Leroy M. Styers of Gastonia and Billy Dean Styers of Flowery Branch, Ga.; three brothers, Marvin and Horace Styers of Kings Mountain and Raymond Styers of Ruther- fordton; and 11 grandchildren. Harris Funeral H«ne has charge of the arrangements. LEON JAMES WEBB Leon James Webb, 67, of 108 W. Lee Ave., Bessemer City, died Wed, Apr. 10 at 6 a.m. in an out-of-town hospital. Born in South Carolina, he was a textile worker and the son of Uie late Tom Webb and Mattie Starnes Webb. He is survived by his widow, Etta Freeman Webb; one daughter, Mrs. Mason Sexton of Rock Hill; one step daughter, Mrs. Virginia Carpenter of Bessemer City; one son, Leon Webb of Gastonia; two step sons, Jesse Milling of Bessemer City and James Milling of AsheviUe; one sister, Mrs. George Glenn of Lincolnton; 12 grand- diildren; and four great grandchUdren. Funeral services were held FH., Apr. 12 at Sisk East Chapel by the Rev. E.L. Moore, assisted by the Rev. James EUis. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. NELLIE ROSS Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Wilson Ross were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church by the ’Rev. J.M. Alexander and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ross, of Rt. 1, Grover, died Tues., Apr. 9 at Shelby Convalescent Center. A Cleveland County native, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Nancy Wilson. She was 85. Survivors include one son, Hershell Ross of Rt. 11, Shelby; two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Hopper of Grover and Mrs. Mary L. McKinney of Miami, Fla.; two brothers, Kance Wilson of Shelby and Starlin Wilson of Boiling Springs; one sister, Mrs. Donnie Marshall of Green sboro; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchUdren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Corry Sr. of NashvUle, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. EUease HoweU of Waco, Mrs. Symantha C. Williams of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Albertine C. Hickman and Mrs. Janol Whitfield of Greensbix-o. Enloe Mortuary had charge of the arrangements. MISS EVELYN UNDERWOOD Miss Evelyn Lenora Un derwood, 49, of 1533 Lynhurst Dr., Gastonia, died Fri., Apr. 12 at 10:30 p.m. in Gaston Memorial Hospital. Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. Underwood and Neata Moore Underwood. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Savage of Gastonia, Mrs. C.L. Trammell of Dilling and Mrs. Douglas Garrett of Charlotte; one brother, Henry Underwood of Greer, S.C.- Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.n. at Yorkwood Church of God conducted by the Rev. Bobby Smith and the Rev. Ray Collins. Burial was in Hollywcnd Cemetery. Sisk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MRS. AlIcE HINNANT WENDELL - Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Mayes Hinnant were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Central Baptist Church and burial was in the Wendel cemetery. Mrs. Hinnant died Friday night. Survivors are her husband, Walter Hinnant; two sons, L.E. (Josh) Hinnant of Kings Mountain and William M. Hinnant of Raleigh; and one daughter, Mrs. Brad Strickland of Wendell. Lewis Funeral Home of Wendell had charge of the arrangements. MISS MADGE BROWN Funeral services for Misa Madge Brown are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. today at Bynum Cliapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. J.W. Holmes and the Rev. S.T. Cook. Burial will be in St. James Methodist Church cemetery, York, S.C. Miss Brown, of 134th St., New York City and formerly of Kings Mountain, died at 7 a.m. Saturday in a New York hospital. She was 43. , Surviving are one daughter. Miss Sandra Brown of the home; father. Will Brown of Kings Mountain; six brothers, Paul, Eugene, Miles, Craig and William Brown of Kings Mountain, and Andrew Brown of Albemarle; and five sisters, Mrs. Jessie Weaver of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Catherine Lowry of Kings Mountain, Mrs, Maxine Simmons of New York City, Mrs. Christine Davis and Miss Mary Brown of Fortescue, N.J.
