Han Schellnet & Man Youth Teams Are Winners Kings Mountain’s three youth football teams all were victorious Tuesday night at City Stadium. The midgets ran their record to 5-1 with a 61-7 vic tory over Bessemer City, and that lop-sided win followed a 60-7 verdict a week earlier at Shelby. Jody Deaton scored three touchdowns on three consecu- tiveplaysand gained 120 yards rushing to lead the Royal romp. He also stood out de fensively, leading the Royals in individual tackles. Kale Goins added three touchdowns and kicked three extra points for Charlie Burns’ charges. Goins was also out standing defensively, along with Paul Ingram. In last Tuesday’s win at Shelby, Deaton scored twice and rushed for 105 yards and Goins scored twice and kicked six of ei^t extra points. Kevin Mack led the defen sive chaise, intercepting four Shelby passes and running one back for a touchdown. Goins and Mirion White were also outstanding on defense. Kings Mountain, which led 44-0 at halftime, gained 220 yards rushing and 123 passing in its biggest offensive show of the season. The Royals, whose only loss was 7-6 to unbeaten Belmont, host once-beaten' Dallas next Tuesday night at City Stadium. The lone loss for Dallas, the defending Gaston League champions, was to Belmont 12-0. The Royals will also have a Saturday game next week, meeting Noon Optimist in Gastonia. The pee wees knocked off league-leading Evening Op timist in Tuesday night’s opener, 27-13. It was KM’s sec ond win in five outings, both over Evening Optimist. Dougy Wright scored on runs of 60 and 45 yards and Boo Robinson tallied touch downs on runs of 15 and 30 yards to lead the locals. Wright also ran for two extra points and Shawn Rainey added one point-after. Coaches Pete Ruff and John Van Dyke cited Rainey, Wright Trent Hullender and Chris Champion for their de- feisive play.
