He Is married to the former Ginger Payne of Kings Mountain. Douglas Gower Named Outstanding Veteran ’The husband of a former Kings Mountlan has been named Outstanding Disabled Veteran for 1978- 79. Douglas Gower of Winston-Salem, husband of the former Ginger Payne, received his honor June 30 at the DAV Department Convention held In Fayetteville. Gower recently returned from Washington, D.C. where he represented the Disabled Veterans of America at festivities during the Vietnam Era Veterans Conference, a program held during Vietnam Veterans Week. 'Marsha Ware Has Birthday Marsha Elisabeth Ware, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Ware of 807 Boyce St. In Kings Mountain, celebrated her eighth birthday July 7 with a party at McDonald’s. Hamburgers and a Mc Donald’s birthday cake with aU the trimmings’ were served. Attending the party were Jeff Bolin, Cande and Jessica Wellmon, Janie Hillard, Kelly Gladden, Pam and Gay Jones, and Kelly Franklin Ware, brother of the honoree. Marsha Is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ware of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Johnnie Clonlnger of Lincolnton. Mrs. Ware Is the former Emily Clonlnger of Dallas. He served In Vietnam and received Injuries causing him to lose both hands In 1970. Gower was the recipient of the N.C. Handicapped j Citizen of 1978 award and was voted the Han- (Ucai^ed Employe of 1978 for Winston-Salem. The Gowers have a daughter, Kimberly, 4. Gower Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Conley Gower of Vandalla, Mo. Mrs. Gower la the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Payne of IGnga Mountain.
