Anderson, Jr. Fellowship Award for students In the public administration degree program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel HUl. The annual award was established by Management Improvement Corp. of America (MICA), a Durtiam- based company. In honor of the late Anderson, former Lexington mayor. Anderson was struck and killed by lightning In 1978. the late Mayor Anderson exem pUfled," Brown said. Crosby, a former assistant at torney general with the N.C. Department of Justice and now a candidate for a master's In public administration, has a private practice of law In his hometown of Kings Mountain. Jon Eric Poston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Poston Jr. of 1103 Oroves St., Is a member of the cast of Oliver Ooldsmlth’s "She Stoops to Conquer" being presented Nov. 13-17 at Westem Carolina University. Poston Is a freshman majoring In geology at WCU. He Is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School where he was listed In Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. Brown said the fellowship was established to further promote the growth and development of professionalism In public-sector management In North Carolina. A graduate from East Carolina University and the Wake Forest University law school, he la married to the former Rosalie Oates of Roxboro. In the Spring of 1979, he received the Doctor of Education degree from Nova University In Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Following six years as high school teacher and coach, BUI Joined the staff at Pfeiffer CbUege as Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Educatlmi. Then in 1971, he wont to the staff of Gterdner-Webb CoUege for six years, Uie last two of which he served as the Director of Development In July of 1977, Dr. Briggs assumed the position of Director of Development for limestone CoUege. Ho was selected to serve as Administrative Head of the coUege from May of 1979 untU September 13,1979, at which time he was tapped as the new President for the (Jaffney school. Dr. Briggs Is an active member of the Buford Street United Methodist Church, Gaffney, where ho serves as Coordinator of Adult Education, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Administrative Board. He Is a member of the Gaffney Rotary Chib, and la very active In social and civic concerns. Bill’s parents are both active members of Central United Methodist Church.
