Bazaar Opens Friday
James W. Kimmell Jr., a
senior student at Wofford
Cbllege in Spartanburg, S.C.,
was one of 2S juniors and seniors
tapped for membership In Blue
Key National Honor Fraternity
during the annual Fall Honors
Day-Founders’ Day ceremonies.
He also was recently named to
"Who’s Who Among Students In
American Universities and
Cblleges,’’ one of a total of 3S
Wofford seniors selected. He
wlU be listed in the 1980 edition
at the publication.
Kimmell was selected for (he
honors on the basis of
scholarship, leadership, and
participation In extracurricular
and academic activities. He Is a
senior hlstory-Bngllsh-Spanlsh
major. At Wofford he has been
named to the Dean’s list, has
served as editor of the student
newspaper ’’Old Gold And
Black,’’ and was recently
elected president of SAR social
fraternity.
He spent six months In
Europe, attending the
University of Valencia In
Valencia, Spain for the Spring
semester, 1979. He then traveled
extensively in Bhirope for seven
weeks, doing an independent

study of modem culture In
Europe. During Easter vacation
from the University of Valencia
he traveled In Morocco.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jim KlmmeU of Latta, S.C.,
former residents of Kings
Mountain. He is the gnmdson of
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ware of
Kings Mountain and Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Kimmell of
Gastonia.
The curtain goes up Thursday
(tonight) at 8 p.m. on the Kings
Mountain Little ITieatre holiday
production of the popular
fairytale, “Cinderella.’’
Performances are also on
Friday and Saturday nights at 8
p.m. and Sunday afternoon at
3;SO p.m. In Park Grace
Auditorium.
Mrs. Graham Wood Is
directing the three-act play.
Advai^ce tickets may be ob
tained from any L-T member or
at the door.
A Grass Roots Grant is
financing the cost of costuming
for the production.
Lead roles In ‘‘Cinderella’’ are
portrayed by Bonnie Sheffield In
foe title role and John Grant as
her Prince Charming. Vivian
Duncan Is foe fairy godmother,
Florrle Hamrick Is foe wicked
stepmother and Debbie Hinson
and Lisa Whitfield are the
stepsisters.
A large cast of young people
are appearing in foe show, many
of them (or the first time under
foe ll^ts.
A two-day Christmas Bazaar
opens Friday at 1 p.m. at KM
Community Center Gym
nasium.
Sponsored by foe KM Parks
and Recreation Department, the
bazaar, featuring local
exhibitors and open to area
shoppers, continues until 10 p.m.
Friday and will be open from 10
a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday.
Santa Claus will make a
special appearance at 4 p.m.
Saturday to take special
requests from foe kiddles until S
p.m.
Mayor John H. Moss will
officially open the festivities at 8
p.m. Friday and Rev. Robert
Boggan, pastor of Central
United Methodist (fourch, wlU
give foe Invocation.
Items from various par
ticipants, Including churches
and Individuals, will be
available to foe buying public
and displayed on tables
decorated In the holiday motif.
Included will be canned and
baked goods, (foristmas can
dles, macrame, wicker, pillows,
scarves, toboggans and other
gift Idoas as well as a demon
stration of pottery making by
Mrs. Maxine Rhea.
Entertainment will be
provided from local church
groups, including First Baptist
Carolers, Youth Community
Gospel Chorus, Kings Mountain
Senior High Brass (Quartet and •
the Mount Zion Baptist Church
Young Adult Choir.
"This Is foe first bazaar of this
type in Kings Mountain and we
Invite everyone to participate In
the events of Friday and
Saturday," said a spokesman
