Watterson. Rev. Sam Murphy, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, heard the exchange of vows In the presence of the Immediate families. The bride and brtdegrocm entered the ceremony room together. The bride chose a pink street-length long-sleeved dress of polyester crepe and a shoulder corsage of pink roses. The couple's wedding trip will take them to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for a three weeks Christ mas visit with the bridegroom's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Watterson and family. Mrs. Watterson is the daughter of the late C.C. and Sallle McGinnis of Kings Mountain. Mr. Watterson, of Grover, Is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Watterson of Grover. MR. AND MRS. A.V. The bridegroom’s mother chose a long Qulana gown of Mavy designed along princess ^Unes and enhanced by an overlay fingertip sheer cape with embroidered cut-out flowers at the neckline. Mrs. Lillian Ford of Kings Mountain, maternal grand mother of the bride, chose a short soft silk dress In navy and floral print with a white marble mum corsage at her shoulder. The bride’s parents en tertained after the ceremony at Aa beautifully-appointed ^reception in the church fellowship hall. Quests were greeted by Robert Ford and Miss Sherry Short. The bride and bridegroom cut their wedding cake from a table overlaid with white sheer and lace. The cake, at one end of the Stable, was white and decorated with red coppertone roses topped with wedding bells and the traditional bridal figurine. The other end of the table held a lighted antique brass can delabra with white marble miuns, sUk coppertone forget- me-nots, gypsophllla and white ^^tapers. The cake was cut and Dserved by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Belt, aunt and uncle of the bride, of Gastonia. * A second table, overlaid in \^te sheer and lace, held a crystal and gold punch bowl vrrounded by white marble mums and greenery. Red coppertone punch was served by Mr. and Mrs. Travis Hawkins, aunt and uncle of the bride, of IGngs Mountain. Sausage balls, cheese straws and party mints were served from gold ap pointments. Mrs. Louise Short of Kings Mountain and Miss Diane Fuller of Charlotte assisted In serving. The fireplace In the fellowship hall was flanked by Roman gold columns holding arrangements of magnolia leaves in gold contsdners. The mantel was decorated with gold candelabra set with white tapers and arranged with magnolia leaves. The piano held gold candelabras and white tapers with an arrangement of greenery and white mums. The bride's por trait was displayed on a wooden easel flanked by green ferns. Mha. Evelyn Bridges played an a^angen^nt of jQya, WEB- during the reception. Misses Stacy Belt, Nicole Lowary and Amy Rae Seism distributed rice bags to guests during the reception. The rice bags were contained In small gold baskets. For traveling, the bride chose a blaser suit In beige wool with silk beige blouse and black suede accessories. She wore the white orchid lifted form her bridal bouquet and a single strand of of pearls, wedding gift from the bridegroom. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM Mr. and Mrs. Billy H. Hawkins of Kings Mountain are parents of the bride who Is a graduate of lOngs Mountain Senior High School and Central Piedmont Ciommunlty College of Charlotte. She Is a registered nurse on the staff of the In tensive Care Unit of Charlotte Memorial Hospital. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Protheroe of Charlotte. He Is a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School of Chsirlotte and owns and- operates B.D. A S. Stone Works In Charlotte. The newlyweds will be at home on Mill Drive In Landis.
