Derenilirr l.(. lltTI* Birthdays Central Advent Services Slated USA BLAINE Lisa Michelle Blaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Blaine, celebrated her fifth birthday Tues., Dec. llth. A birthday party wsis held Saturday at the First Wesleyan Qiurch Fellowship Hall and Lisa’s Wonder Woman- decorated birthday cake was cut and served with ice cream and partj^efreshments. Lisa’s three-year-old sister, Makala, joined in party fun, along with Melody and Phillip Ellison, ’Tina and Eric Roper, Shelley and Courtney Rohm, Anita and Angle Whitaker, Kelly Ware, Ginger Baity and Dennis Morrow. Mrs. Blaine is the former Susan Henson. Lisa and Makala Blaine are granddaughters of Mrs. Cleo Henson of Kings Mountain. TIMOTHY PAYNE Timothy Eugene Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Payne of York, S.C., celebrated his first birthday Nov. 29th at his home in York, S.C. He had a Teddy Bear cake, along with other refreshments, which were served to friends and relatives. ’Timothy has a brother, Tracy, seven years old. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Payne of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Mahaffey of Lancaster, S.C. Central United Methodist Church members will par ticipate in numerous Advent and Christmas-season activities. United Methodist Youth Fellowship will hold a progressive dinner party Saturday night. An Advent Wreath Ceremony will feature the Sunday morning worship hour on Sunday which will also feature a Christmas Cantata by the Choir. A "Christmas Special’’ for the whole family will featwe a party at the church on Sunday evening. Families will bring a favorite dessert to be shared at refreshment time. Members of the Adult Fellowship Class will gather for a steak supper at 7 p.m. Monday night at Cattletown Stesik House and the Choir Christmas dinner will be held on Dec. 19. Open house will be held at the Central Methodist parsonage with Rev. and Mrs. Bob Boggan, hosts, on Dec. 38 from 7 until 9 p.m. A Christmas Eve Communion Service will be held on Dec. 34th at 8 p.m. Youth of the church are conducting a unique Christmas project this year by offering to deliver in-clty Christmas mall at cost of 10 cents per letter and 10 cents per package. All mail and packages must have a street address and number and also m return address. Delivery will be limited to the city limits or nearby, and letters and packages should be brought to the Church Library on Sundays from 9:80 a.m. until 13 noon or Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Hils service will end on Dec. 33 and businesses and offices are In vited to participate, said a spokesman. Fletcher. ’The book is filled with in teresting and humorous anec dotes and pictures so that the people come aUve for the reader Band Concert Set At KMHS Over 170 Kings Mountain band students will present the annual Winter Concert ’Thursday night, Dec. 20th, at 8 p.m. In B.N. Barnes Auditorium. ’The concert Is free and open to the public. Participating in a program of traditional, popular and seasonal music will be members of the KMSHS Blazer Band, members of the KMJH Ninth Grade Band and members of the KMJH Eighth Grade Band. Donald J. Deal, Christopher H. Cole, and Barry Green, the latter a student teacher from Gardner Webb College, will direct the program. "We Invite the community to attend and share his winter concert with our students,” said Mr. Deal.
