ISSO^KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALO-Pag* 3A 18 Girls Seek Crown Eighteen young ladies are seeking the title of Miss Dixie Youth through a special penny- vote promotion by the Kings Mountain Dixie Youth Baseball League. The girl who receives the most votes will be crowned Miss Dixie Youth during the city’s annual Fourth of July activities. Girls in the running, and the teams they represent, include, Susan Ware, Parkdale; Kamie Wiggins, Independence Bank; Angela Ross, Patterson Oil; Cin dy Moore, Cubs; Kendra Cash, Mets; Linda Green, Plonk Oil pee wee team; Diane Clippard, Bolin’s Day Care; Lee Ann Humphries, American Legion; Becky Moskal, Cardinals; Amy' Morris, Vitamin Bees; Tonya Weeks, Plonk Oil Patriots; Deb bie Moss, Optimist; Sherrie Roberts, C&C Metal; Andrea Pattersori, Kiwanis; Misty Shockley, Police; Michele Bolin, Rotary; Gina Stone, Champion’s Landscaping; and Nicole Gnandt, Jaycees. A brief sketch on some of the girls follows: Legion Auxiliary Wins State Awards American Legion Auxiliary Unit ISS brought home first place awards for its history book for the second consecutive year and first place award for its news letter from the state convention held during the weekend in Winston-Salem. Out-going District 23 Presi dent Arlene Barrett of Kings Mountain also was honored as the district president with the highest percentage of units par ticipating in the sale of legislative bulletins. Judy Harmon and Lib Stewart are unit historians and Mrs. Barrett and Lib Stewart are co-editors of the Auxiliary publication. The Unit also won a certificate for Community Ser vice. Attending the convention from Kings Mountain were Joe H. McDaniel, Rick Moore and David Delevie, representing Post ISS, and newly-installed District 23 President Ruth Gamble, Arlene Barrett and Lib Stewart. Representing Warren F. Hoyle Unit 82 Auxiliary of Shelby was Mrs. Mary Wilson. The Shelby unit won a Golden Press certificate. Mrs. Pierre Dalmas of Valdcse was installed as the new state president and Fred Corbett of Post 380 in Charlotte was install ed as the new state commander. TONYA WEEKS Tonya is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. yj. Gerald Weeks and is a fifth iradecat West School. She is a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and enjoys piano, reading, baseball and run ning. 9 AMELIA HUFFMAN Amelia Diane One Year Old Amelia Diane Huffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Huffman of the Dixon Com munity, was one year old June 18. She celebrated the event with a party on June 28. Guests enjoyed Holly Hobbie cake and refreshments. Present for the fun were her four year old sister, Karen Michelle; Mrs. Calvin Huffman and daughters Mary and Terri; Mrs. Jimmy Wilson and daughter Libby, Mrs. Daniel T. Regan and daughter, Joanne; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Glenna K. Norville. FATHERS HONORED Macedonia Baptist Church honored fathers of the congrega tion in a special salute to fathers recently. Sid Moss was honored as the senior father present. Dale Lawing as the youngest, and David Lawing as the father of the most children, five. ITS A GIRL Steve and Cindy Kiser an nounce the birth of their first child, a daughter, Kristen Elizateth, June 27 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kiser and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Langley and great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. S.G.
