The director will be Dr. Charles R. Hannum, Director of Theatre at Limestone College, according to Dr. Briggs. Han num has extensive acting and directing experience ranging from college to professional, in cluding a season in the title role of the outdoor drama, “The Legend of Daniel Boone,” accor ding to Briggs. The late Robert B. Osborne of Kings Mountain wrote the historical drama on the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1951. It was adapted for the fall presentation by Kings Mountain newspaper man Tom McIntyre, with per mission of Mrs. Robert B. Osborne. Auditions for the drama’s many speaking and non- spealdng roles will be held in Gaffney, Kings Mountain, Rock Hill, Gastonia and Shelby during the middle of July. Direct Deposit Is Available People receiving social security checks in the Cleveland County area can have them deposited directly into a checking or savings account at a financial institution of their choice, Kenneth Shelton, social security manager said re cently. Of the 14,600 social security beneficiaries and supplemental se curity income (SSI) recipients in Cleveland County, 3100 (or 21.2 percent of all recipients) currently have their monthly checks being depMsited directly into their ac count at one of our local financial New Parties Are Certified Three new political p>arties were certified as legal piarties in a session of the N.C. State Board of Elections on June 17. The Board reviewed the petitions to organize the piarties which had been submitted pursuant to General Statute 163-96 and found said group of petitioners to have qualified as new political prarties. The new ptarties are: In dependents for Anderson Party, Citizens Party of N.C., and Socialist Workers Party. Effec tive immediately any registered voter may change his registra tion to affiliate with either of these psarties or any unregistered voter may affiliate with either of these piarties when registering to vote. Persons may now register in North Carolina with either of the following parties: Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, In dependents for Anderson, Socialist Workers, or Citizens Party of N.C. or they may register Unaffiliated. If a person registers “Unaffiliated” he can not vote in primary elections, but can vote in all other elec tions. The deadline for persons to register to vote in the November 4, 1980 general election is Oc tober 6, at S p.m. Also a pierson who has moved from his previous precinct must fill out a precinct transfer form by this date to be eligible to vote. Per sons may register at the Cleveland County Board of Elec tions office or at the home of the precinct registrar or judge of his precinct. ON DEAN'S UST Two Kings Mountain students, Jimmy Robert Bolin and Wsilter Albert Hord, Jr. have been listed on the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Limestone College in Gaffney, 5. C.
