He loves Kings Mountain. “I was bom and raised in Kings Mountain,” he says. “I know the citizens and their needs and wishes. 1 want to do all 1 can for their welfare.” The committees working for the excellence rating, and their responsibilities, include: Research/Client Identification - To develop an active process of client ID and to selectively iden tify potential firms which might be attracted to the area. Promotion Materials - To develop a brochure that represents Kings Mountain, that is prepared for industrial and economic growth, and develop a slide presentation on the com munity to cover things such as locations, living conditions, economic factors, utilities, transportation, education, etc. Marketing Effort - To organize a direct mail campaign, media advertising program, client visitation program, etc. Development Team - To be composed of local citizens who are knowledgeable about such topics as transportation, utilities, government services, taxes, labor resources, industrial sites and buildings, liveability and other factors that are important to a client’s selection of a com munity. Existing Industry - To visit each industry and major business to get existing in dustries awareness and support of the community’s effort to pro mote economic development, and to offer assistance to pro blems encountered by existing industry and business. Downtown Revitalization -To work with the community of ficials to upgrade and/br stabilize the economic and social vitality of the downtown area, and prepare a study of downtown and establish short and long term goals and objectives for in itiating the downtown program. Community Journ^ - To prepare a scrapbook documen ting the efforts in achieving goals and to present to state officials on October 10, when the com munity will be inspected by state officials. The Development Team sub committees, and their respon sibilities, include; Liveability - Responsible for recreation, to identify potential tourist attractions and establish a clean-up, fix-up campaign. Finance - Responsible for developing the already-formed Kings Mountain Development Corporation, that has the ability to finance the construction of in dustrial buildings that can be leased or sold to industrial clients) and that can option, purchase and sell property. Officers of the corporation include Mayor Moss, president; Josh Hinnant, vice president; King, secretary; and Tom Tate, treasurer. The bard of directors includes Mayor Moss, Mickey Corry, Charles Hamilton, Ollie Harris, Ruby Baker, Jackie White, George Thomasson, Tom Tate, Larry Hamrick, Darrell Austin, Josh Hinnant and King. Community planning - To organize a planning board with up-todate appointments, and formulate a develoment plan which gives indication of where the community wants to go in the future, adopt and implement the development plan and seek citizen participation in the for mulation and implementation of the plan.
