Guest, National and State soloist of North Carolina. Contestants from Gaston and Cleveland Counties will be plat forming their talents. They will display their community pro jects. It is singing and drama at its best. The judges are from Cleveland, Gaston, Kings Mountain and Mecklenburg Counties. You will not want to miss the first Annual Afro-American Dream Epiphany Pageant. Postmaster Weaver and postal officials in Charlotte have been working for several months to make this service available in the Kings Mountain area, and Weaver said, “We are very ex cited and happy to be able to of fer this service to our customers. This service has previously been offered only at cities with major airports, and we have had to refer our customers to piost of fices in Charlotte and Gastonia.” Committees Named Two special committees - an annexation stuuy committee and a fees study committee - have been appointed by Kings Moun tain Mayor John Henry Moss. Members of the Annexation committee will include City Commissioners, Norman King, Jim Dickey, Jim Childers and Mayor Moss. They will review the recent annexation report prepared by the North Carolina Department of Natural Economic Development, Divi sion of Community Assistance, and present recommendations to the ^11 board. Members of a Fees Study Committee are Commissioners Humes Houston, Corbet Nicholson, Bill Grissom and City Clerk-Treasurer Joe H. McDaniele Jr.They will study current fees and make recom mendations. Commissioner Jim Dickey has been appointed chairman of the sanitation committee which also includes Commissioner Jim Childers and Section Supervisor Ted Huffman. This committee will study the current garbage pick-up schedules and services and make recommendations for improvements to the full board of commissioners. Express mail is a guaranteed expedited delivery service which allows a customer to mail items weighing up to 70 pounds to any of 1,300 designated locations around the country overnight. Articles should be mailed by 3:30 p.m., Monday through Fri day, and they may be picked up at the destination post office by 10 a.m. or delivered by 3 p.m. the following day. Postage is refunded if the item is not available for pickup or delivery is not attempted by the specified times unless the delay is caused by strike or work stop page. Articles are insured up to $500 for merchandise or $50,000 for document reconstruction at no additional cost. Letters may be included with merchandise at no addi tional cost. Postage on Express Mail is charged according to weight and destination zone. A five pound article can be sent to New York, New York, from post office to post office for $7.20 or delivered to the addressee for $9J0. The same five pound article can be delivered to a post office in Seat tle, Wash, by 10 a.m. for $8.20 or to the addressee by 3 pjn. for $10.30, guaranteed, or your money back. There is an Express Mail Custom Designed &rvice for business mailers with the need for regularly scheduled high speed deliveries. An agreement between the Postal Service and customers is arranged prior to starting this service, setting forth the schedule of service between specified origin and destination points. This service can be ar ranged with a predetermined fre quency of mailing to any of 23,000 post offices. For further information on Express Mail Service, the Post Office may be contacted at 739-5616.
