EDWARD GONZALEZ 50th Wedding Day .celebrate anniversary 45th Anniversary For Pastor And Wife Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fisher The 4Sth wedding anniversary' of Rev. and Mrs. J. Edward (Geraldine) Gonzalez of Fort Myers, Fla. will be remembered gwith pleasant memories by a large number of relatives who gathered Saturday and Sunday to honor the retired Lutheran ' pastor and his wife. Events honoring the popular couple began on Friday evening when relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Campbell for a barbecue and pool party. Rev. and Mrs. Gonzalez entertained 80 relatives at an niversary baiiquet Saturday evening at Kings Mountain Country Club. Receiving with the couple were their son, Joe Gonzalez, Jr., of Princeton, N .J., who is executive secretary of the Republican Party in New Jersey State Assembly, his wife, Sharon, and their two children, Andrew and Rebecca, and their daughter. Dr. Margaret Gon zalez, who teaches French in Friends School in New York Ci ty. Also receiving were Rev. Gonzalez’ niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cargill of Washington, D.C. and the nine brothers and sisters of the former Geraldine McGinnis, including Paul and Hubert McGinnis of Kings Mountain, Lucille Sawyer of Charlotte, Virginia Sabetti of Kings Mountain, Dorothy Whetstine of Alexandria, Va., Donald McGinnis of Kings Mountain, Janet Eagle of Kan napolis, and Bill and Jim McGin nis, both of Kings Mountain. The history of the two families was read by Mrs. Anita McGin nis CampbeU, a niece, and Donald McGinnis and special music was presented by Mrs. Evelyn Troy of New Jersey. Summer flowers and pink candles decorated the tables and guests toasted the couple in champagne. Adding to the pro gram were excerpts of Geraldne McGinnis’ growing up years in Kings Mountain and humorous incidents involving all her brothers and sisters in a family of 13, children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henkle McGinnis. Mrs. Gonzalez conducted a memorial service to her late parents and late brothers, Odell, Richard and Claude Henry McGinnis and presented five roses in their memory. A Sunday afternoon reception from 3-30 until 430 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall also honored the anniversary couple. Mrs. Paul McGinnis and Mrs. Lou Sabetti assisted in serving refreshments of punch and petit- fours. Sisters and brothers of Mrs. Gonzalez also assisted in receiving and entertaining. Descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henkle McGinnis gathered for the annual reunion Sunday evening and a picnic supper was spread. A conversa tion piece in the Fellowship Hall of Resurrection Lutheran church was a display of pictures of the McGinnis-Gonzalez families. Geraldine and Edward Gon zalez were married at St. Mat thew’s Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain on Jan. 17, (Turn To Pag* 3-B) Mauney celebrated their Golden Wedding Day Saturday at a beautifully appointed reception at the home of their son and daughter4n-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Mauney, on S. Rox- ford Road. Entertaining with the Mauneys were Mr. and Mrs. C. Herman Mauney of Albuquer que, New Mexico and Mr. and Mrs. William T. Berkeley 111 of LaGrange, Ga., children of the honored couple! More than 200 fnends and relatives called between 3 and 6 p.m. The honoree, Mrs. Mauney, received friends in a salmon col ored long formal of (^ana with a white orchid corsage at her shoulder. Children and grand children of the couple assisted in receiving and entertaining. Overl^d with imported lace cloth, the refreshment table in the dining room held a five- tiered yellow and white anniver sary cake as central highlight. The cake was topped with yellow roses and cut and served with punch and party pickups from silver appointments. Ar rangements of beautiful home grown roses from the flower gardens of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Mauney were used throughout the house and in the playroom where guests also were served punch and party refreshments from a gold and white decorated table. Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Clon- inger of Dallas served punch in the dining area and Mr. and Mrs. Lee McIntyre served punch in the playroom where goodbyes were said by Mr. and Mrs. George H. Houser, sister and brother-in-law of Carl F. Mauney. Grandchildren who assisted in receiving and enter taining were Beth and John Berkeley of LaGrange, Ga., Catherine and Charles Mauney, Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Mauney 111 and Chris Upchurch, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kaki, Carlo, Leigh and Stephen Mauney, all of Kings Mountain. Also receiving with the honorees were sisters of Mrs. Mauney, including Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Marrow of Plymouth, Mrs. Buford Guy of Salisbury, Mrs. Walker Smart of EUenboro, and Dr. and Mrs. H.V. Park of lACKIE LEE DANCY Turn To 7-B ENGAGED-Miss Jackie Lee Dancy and James Richard (Ric) Deaton plan to be married on CX:t. 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kan napolis. Their engagement is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaither Clinton Dancy of China Grove. Miss Dancy is a 1976 graduate of South Rowan Senior High School and attended Rowan Technical Institute. She is employed by the Bahnson Co. as document control clerk. “Ric”, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Deaton of Kings Mountain, is a 1977 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and at tended Gaston College. He is employed as draftsman for the Bahnson Co. at the McGuire Plant at Lake Norman.
