The country theme featured decorations throughout the Hovis home on Fairfield Drive in Gastonia. A centerpiece of Crepe Myrtle decorated the head table and country arrangements were used on smaller tables w here 19 guests were served din ner. Back To School Fashion Show Held From frilly sun suits to dress up clothes, the fall 1980 children’s fashions offer the widest range of styles. Traditionally, children’s fashions for fall have been called “back to school” clothes but this year variety is the keyword from casual to highly detailed, elegant dressing in young folks attire ^ I A mommy.” Young people paraded the latest in “back to school” clothes during a city recreation department-sponsored fashion show Saturday afternoon ai Davidson Park. Younger grandchildren of ihe honored couple surprised their grandparents with homemade m m Grandma and Grandpa cakes which were displayed in the kit chen and which required a day in the kitchen under the supervi sion of Catherine Mauney of Albuquerque. Special anniversary gifts were exchanged by the honored cou ple and their children. Catherine Herman and Carl Fisher Mauney were married w) w Aug. 27, 1930 at the bride’s home in Conover and have lived all their married life in Kings Mountain where Mr. Mauney is treasurer of Mauney Hosiery Mills. The couple has long been active in the civic and religious life of the community and are members of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
