I9a0-K1MGS MOUMTAllI HERALO-Pog* SA Donis Gold, Jackie Harris, Judy Charpentier and Jenny Hinson combined for a 14-under-par 58 Tuesday to win the annual Cleveland County American Cancer Society Golf Tournament at Kings Mountain Country Club. The victory earned the four some a trip to Pinehurst October 27 to compete in the North Carolina Walter Hagen Touma- Hope Plastics Wins Tourney Hope Plastics of Gastonia won the first annual Wilson Women’s Softball Tournament held last weekend at City Stadium. Runner-up was the Sugar Jets of Gastonia and third place went to Joe’s Body Shop of Shelby. Mt. Olive Dills of Charlotte won the sportsmanship trophy. Pat Domar of Hope Plastics was the most valuable player. Members of the all-toumament team were Jean Robbins, Tam my Sherrill and Jenny Smith of Hope, Pam Smith, Mindy Lindley, Sheila Williamson and Suzanne Franklin of Sugar Jets and Peggy Ledford, Susie Carroll and Bet Laney of Joe’s. HOT DOG SALE The youth of First Wesleyan Church will sponsor a hot dog sale Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. Proceeds will be used to help sponsor a trip to Atlanta. The tournament raised S250 for the American Cancer Socie ty. The men’s tournament, held earlier in the summer, netted S1332, giving Cleveland County its biggest year ever. The $1,600 raised in the two tournaments this year surpassed last year’s total by $1,100. Alex McCallum, chairman of the tournament, Kay Holshouser, of the Cleveland County American Cancer Socie ty, and Rudy Hayes, golf pro at KMCC, presented awards. Door prizes were donated by Bridges Hardware, Plonk Brothers, Hanis-Teeter, Quality Sandwich, Fulton’s, First Federal Savings and Loan, Shelby Sporting Goods and Coca-Cola. “I’d like to thank all the par ticipants, the Kings Mountain Ladies Golf Association and Club Pro Rudy Hayes for their cooperation and assistance in making the tournament a suc cess,” said McCallum.
